"it really adds on to stay at De Librije hotel!"

10.0

A festive weekend with my wife in Zwolle: of course in De Librije Hotel. Excellent service by staff member Marlou and the rest of the hotel crew: Never ending service by the entire team. Superb! A big thank you to make our weekend very special.

"Best hotel in the Netherlands for me!"

10.0

For me this is the best hotel in the Netherlands. The level of hospitallity is the best of te best. The standards are high but everything is done to make it comfortable for their guests. Beautiful rooms. Ans especially comfortable when you visit 3 Michelin starred restaurant De Librije. All under one roof.

"Awkward "

6.0

Food is without a doubt outstanding if you love fish. If you are into meat it’s not your best choice to go. Prepare for 5 dishes of fish and disappointing only one dish with meat. There’s no balance or recognition of guests’ preference. Disappointing.

"Pleasant stay"

8.0

We had to make a quick trip to Zwolle to drop our daughter at University there. Knowing nothing about the hotel or it's reputation we booked at the last minute. Unfortunately, we were in a rush and didn't get to really enjoy the hotel.......however, the rooms were very comfortable, the staff very pleasant and helpful, location ideal. Also what we did not know, is the restaurant is the center piece of their hotel and concept. We were told upon check in that there was no availability for dinner, which wasn't an issue because dining wasn't our priority, nor did we know the reputation of the restaurant. However, later in the day they had a cancellation and we were able to get a table unexpectedly. After dinner we understood that the hotel is there for the restaurant!! If you like fantastic food experiences and to stay in a lovely hotel, this place is for you. I will return!

"The best hotel in the Netherlands"

It has been a while since I last stayed here, but to me Librije’s Hotel is still the best hotel of the Netherlands. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy! And breakfast is perfect! Love to come here again. That is for sure!

"Great luxury when eating at Librije"

10.0

Would not have it any other way: if having dinner at Librije, it is such a luxury to also stay there. After a great dinner experience, go up and have a great rest to be indulged once more at breakfast. Nice rooms, good service and great bed!

"Astonishing stay at Librije's Hotel"

10.0

Last month we stayed at Librije's Hotel in Zwolle where we enjoyed a marvelous dinner and breakfast the next morning. At arrival we were welcomed by the friendly staff and who showed us our room. The rooms are located at a former "female penitentiary" in Zwolle. The rooms are comfortable and a surprise has been hidden in one of the bedside tables. The 7-course dinner with the accompanying wine was great. A real taste explosion with each course served. We already booked again for next year.

"Wonderful from start to finish"

10.0

We were very lucky to find a room at the last minute. We had driven 450 miles that day and hadn't been able to book in advance as we weren't sure if we'd make it to Zwolle. The lady who greeted us at the desk was extremely helpful and courteous and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Before being shown our room we were given a welcome drink and amuse bouche both of which were very individual and delicious. We stayed in a 'Royal Room' with an adjustable, comfortable bed, a good choice of soft drinks in the mini-fridge, an espresso coffee machine and a spacious bath with raindance shower. Even the lights had many adjustable settings. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, if the opportunity arises and would love to eat in the restaurant - maybe for our 30th wedding anniversary (must remember to plan well in advance).

"Great overall experience with dinner, overnight and breakfast"

10.0

Large and modern bathroom with amenities. Mini-fridge stocked with complimentary beverages and a welcome home-made sweet. A little “kitchy” décor with a twist of humour. Extensive breakfast with original dishes served at your table. Mini minus points: the B&O flat screen TV did not work ! Not enough light in the bathroom to put make up on.

"Fabulous stay!"

10.0

Staying here was a surprise gift for my husband. I managed to get him right to the reception of the hotel before he really knew what he was entering. The experience of him realizing where he was, while sampling some of the owner's vodka as we checked in was perfect. Our room was divine. It was large, and had a simply luxurious walk in shower, as well as a tub for two. We made use of both, even though we only stayed one night. The bed was fabulous, too - it was electric, and we could sleep semi-sitting. This was useful after the indulgent meal we ate, downstairs. Really, i have nothing but praise for this hotel, they had thought of all the amenities possible for an old prison building, and we truly felt pampered. I do want to mention breakfast in the morning - this was fabulous. After the night's meal (which I will rate in a different post, for the restaurant), I really didn't think that we could eat a bite more for days. Somehow we managed to find room for about 8 of the 10 or so courses presented to us as breakfast. This hotel, and the restaurant with it, are very worth a visit, if you can manage it. I will say that we found the map to get from the train station to the hotel fairly confusing. If I were to do this again, I would not try to walk the distance (though it is perfectly walkable). I would simply catch a taxi from the station.
