Well, another fabulous trip to Desire Pearl is finished. Once again, it’s the staff that make the place special. The grounds staff, housekeeping, management, butlers, maintenance etc. all greet you each and every time they see you.
First off, the room, was perfect when we arrived, and kept that way throughout our visit.
Next up is the food. Suki is always the best by far, and that’s why it’s so busy. The quality here is outstanding, so let’s hope and pray it stays that way. The service is also perfect; however, the place appears to be a bit understaffed at times. So, the staff have to really work hard. Ceci the hostess is fantastic and has been there a long time. It’s always great to see a familiar face.
We only dined in Pearl once for Mediterranean night. The food was good, but not as it was years gone by. Service here is slipping as well so I hope they make some adjustments. It used to be the best in the resort, but it’s slipped to second, don’t let it slip to third. We plan on dinner taking at least two and half hours, whereas in other places it is much less.
The seaweed is still there, but not as bad. Mexico has realized it is a problem and they are trying, but there is so much. They have a ship that is collecting it out in the ocean, but they need a navy of ships to tackle that issue.
Now for the pool and hot tub staff. The entertainment staff are so hard working and energetic I am amazed they are able to do it day after day. The pool/lobby bar staff, Luis Lopez, Cob, Jairo
The playmakers work so hard to bring us all the many activities during the day. People just have to remember that these are fun pool activities, and NOT an Olympic sport. Have fun whether you win or lose. No gold medals being handed out here folks, so just play for fun and treat everybody with kindness and respect regardless of how they play. You might have played a ton of volleyball, but the person beside you is playing for the first time, and hoping it will be fun. Help them learn the game in a way they’ll be back tomorrow. Don’t take the games so seriously, and leave your ego at home. Kia and Candace are the best. Love seeing them dance and interact with the guests. See you both soon.
The chair guys: Ok Victor was on vacation, but Miguel, Antonio and Horacio are fun eager to please and always around when you need something. They work so hard so thanks for taking such great care of us guys!!
I would be remiss if I didn’t give a huge shout out to Gabi. She works in Aphrodite for breakfast and lunch, and serves sometimes around the pool as well. We miss you already and love you Gabi, and hope to see your warm smile soon. Gabi was only there for 2 days before she went on vacation, but always greets us with a huge smile and a warm hug. Yolanda our other pool server is also fantastic. Again, big hugs when she saw us, so she is yet another reason to return. Wilbert and Oliver in Aphrodite are incredible, and Manuela is outstanding. She brought us some Habanero hot sauce for us to take home. She is a treat to see in the morning for breakfast. Eddie and Ray in the Mansion are also great hard-working guys. Thanks for the effort and fun during our “family reunion”.
Now the hard part. The clients are better than last year, but still some folks that like to keep their suits on. To each their own, right? Most of them soon realize after a day or two that they are the odd ones out, and off come the suits. The hot tub is still 100% fully nude.
Food allergies: This resort HAS to learn and TRAIN its staff on food allergies and the importance of the issues regarding them. The staff lack both the knowledge of the English language and the training to inform their dinner guests as to the ingredients and the replacement items that the resort offers. To say something is gluten free does NOT make it gluten free. The staff HAVE to be trained on what items on the menu contains dairy and/or gluten. Failure to do so, could result in a very bad experience for a guest.
Yes, the music still sucks in the disco. No idea why they have a DJ as the playlist is the same every night. Maybe management has never been to a great dance spot, so they think Pitbull is great dance music. The DJ at the pool is a way better DJ, so no idea why they can’t use his playlist. Sheesh. Or, ask RM to get their playlist. On another note, we re-signed with Nash. She treated us great and we finally came to a great offer. Thanks, Nash, for your time and effort.
I will end this on a happy note. Our butlers Irving, Carlos and Hector and Erick treat us like Royality. You guys made our trip and we love your attention to detail and your efforts do not go un-noticed. Thank you for all you do, which is a lot. We are treated like family members and we feel like it. We love the staff here so thank you all for your hard work smiles, and great attitudes. We hope to return soon.
