Hampton Inn Clinton

The staff was amazing! They made us feel like family coming to stay with them. Our toddlers loved talking with the front desk and the housekeeping every chance they got and the hotel did a great job accommodating our loud little family. We will definitely stay there any time we come back to Clinton!

The floor was dirty upon arrival. Asked to have it cleaned, was told "OK" - didn't happen. Borrowed mop and spray. Did it myself. Lipstick on towels. Hair in bathtub and shower. No hand wipes/gel in gym. Worst of all, incredibly loud vacuums (two!) in the hall during the mid day - when I was sleeping (working nights). Opened the door and called out to workers - Excuse me..." at least 3 or 4 times, each time a little louder. They didn't react. Saw cord lying in front of my door - shook it a bit to get their attention, cord fell out of socket, inadvertently. They took out their earplugs! and were upset "We're just doing our jobs" - but I have to sleep in order to do mine. Very awkward. Then maybe 5-10 minutes later, loud knocking on door. Wasn't sure what it was. a few moments later VERY LOUD BANGING ON DOOR. Seems manager insists on giving me a talking too. Very aggressive/angry. Could absolutely care less about me as a guest. I thought they would tell me I had to leave. Horrible stay, I would never go back!!

We called ahead to confirm our booking and nothing was said. Arrived with a 25 person family reunion to be told the pool was closed. They were incredibly rude and said they could not issue a refund. Eventually a call to management gave a refund-but no apology, or explanation why the pool was closed, or notified of this earlier when called. I understand things happen but when you’re aware of an event such as this, you’d think a phone call would be easy.

The staff was wonderful. From the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast preparers, It was a lovely stay.

I enjoyed the fitness facility. It was well stocked for a hotel gym.

Throughout years of road tripping and hotel stays I have come to respect the consistency and quality of Hampton Inn hotels. To start with the positives: The hotel had been recently refreshed (hallways, lobby spaces, rooms), and the employees were professional and friendly, especially Jackie. Hilton Honors members like ourselves got our water(s) and snack. Rooms were relatively clean and lots of amenities (pool and exercise center) are available. The negatives: The room had a "earthy" smell and was musty; it seemed as if the AC unit couldn't keep up. The shower doors were incredibly difficult to move; an odd critique, but one worth mentioning due to how oddly hard it was. The breakfast was meager in comparison to other Hampton properties and the milk cartons were clearly spoiled. Cleanliness could use a tad bit of work as well. Overall, this property is probably one of the nicest in town, and while we don't encounter any huge problems during our stay, it didn't fully live up to the Hampton standards that we were used too.

Very bummed out the pool lift or disabled not working & never addressed during 3 nite stay. A new reason given each time when I brought it up at front desk daily. 50% of the reason I chose the Hampton, by far the most $$$$ expencive lodging in Clinton Ia. The other 50% reason for choosing to spend the highest $$$$ in town option was for the roll in shower. Really feel I should of been compensated a $$ nite or something. Not a child but wheelchair user & pool lift issue never resolved if even attempted seriously. Very dismayed, a little offended. Not seriously or priority addressed if attempted at all. Probably forgotten/ swept under rug already

Hotel was clean and staff was very friendly. Beds were comfy and great water pressure in the shower. We tried the breakfast as they had many options, but the food was cold. (Omelets, oatmeal). Maybe their cookware just wasn’t set at the right temp to keep it warm.
