"Lovely resort on the beach"

10.0

The location of this place is stunning and the resort is beautiful. Our room was huge and always kept clean and well stocked. Our butler's Jackson and Baggy were fab! The golf course is challenging but the best we've played. I'd highly recommend Emerald Bay as a place to get away from it all. We also did the Ocean Safari with the pigs whilst there - if you go here do it! This was our first visit to a Sandals resort and we'll be trying more!

"it was not worth the money"

8.0

When we arrived the clock was broken, no coffee cups for coffee, the upgrades of bathrobes, slippers etc were not there. After 4 days we asked to have sheets changed, it took till 7th day after we had asked numerous times, went to management and it was taken care of but only for limited time as we were there for 14 days. The beach and water had alot of debris (plastic) in it. On the positive , all of the other staff was amazing, friendly and the food everywhere was very good.

"A lot of potential! "

6.0

The grounds are beautiful, the food was very good, the staff was top notch. What I believe I witnessed was management/ownership cutting back on maintenance and capital expenditures. Our room had an active leak in the water closet, the toilet clogged several times, empty or not, the shower dripped loud enough to keep us awake at times, the plantation shutters for the walkout doors were very hard to keep in the track. The hallway smelled of mold and had an obvious roof leak that was damaging the wall, the elevator did not work correctly and one time we got out of it after it did not respond when the buttons were pushed. The pool was beautiful, but not very clean. The beach was beautiful and the sand was like sugar. The rinse showers by the main pool entrance to the beach didn't work correctly. I have other items, but you get the point. Ownership needs to put some money into renovations and some simple maintenance. I'm sure when the bought the hotel out of receivership (it was a Four Seasons) it was a gem. I won't return until they renovate the hotel.

"Winter Holiday"

10.0

The location of the hotel was perfect, white beaches and blue waters. The hotel itself was fabulous as were the restaurants, facilities, entertainment and staff. I can’t fault it and am already planning my trip back next year!

"Mixed bag"

Island and water of the island are gorgeous. Main pool area is nice. The Club lounge is VERY tired and needs new carpet and furniture at the very least. Rooms could use refresh for the money spent on them. The hallway inside to our room 1111 was like a convalescent home hallway...super dirty, musty, and gross. We were glad to be on the ground floor so we could exit out the patio slidong glass door every time and avoid the hallway tumbleweeds of human hair we encountered on the first time to our room. So gross. The sushi restaurant was surprisingly great. Power was out the entire night we had reservations for the Indian restaurant, so we had to leave after our appetizers (which were great). The hibachi restaurant is a bad environment that needs a designer to add some help, but food was definitely acceptable. Jerk shack has amazing food, but the flies are a SERIOUS health problem. The one restaurant that has lobster at night was boring, but they allow you to have multiple lobster tails, which was great. Swimupbar was fun with great bartenders and music/games. Most servers were not that engaging, but all of them were pleasant and had a smile. Wasn't horrible and we enjoyed ourselves, but the first 6 nights we stayed on the same island were better, so we would not go back to Sandals.

"Sandals Shambles!"

2.0

This hotel is a complete let down, no more than a 2 star hotel, the staff were rude and completely unhelpful. You have to constantly ask for things and they bring you the bare minimum. For example, we asked for more coffee and water for the room and after calling three times over the course of one day, they brought one small bottle of water and one coffee sachet! Unbelievable! The room was dirty, dated and mouldy with bugs and even a small crab! At check in they make you complete your own details on an iPad which kept crashing. It took over an hour! We eventually got to the pool at about 3.00pm and they had no loungers and no towels. We soon discovered that you need to be there at 7.00am to claim a lounger as they are on a first come first served basis... and forget a cabana, unless you fancy going down to the pool at around 5.00am! They also are constantly trying to sell you other Sandals vacations. While the sea was a lovely colour of turquoise, there was seaweed everywhere on the beach. We stay at many 4/5-star hotels, and rarely do we feel strongly enough to write such a negative review but we paid over $2500 for four days and we were expecting a 5-star vacation but were appalled and completely disappointed. This property is not as it seems. We would never go back to a Sandals resort.

"Loved Sandals Emerald Bay"

10.0

Sandals Emerald Bay is as beautiful as the pictures. They do not lie. The food was really good; especially Bombay. Butler service was awesome; loved it. It really helped me relax as I didn't have to make any dinner reservations or anything. Day#1: I told the butler what I wanted to do while I was there & sort of what time of day I wanted to do it (dinner/golf/massage)...he came back a bit later & left the itinerary on my table. DONE...& then he escorted me to all the appointments. No thought on my part at all...I didn't have to do anything. I tipped $25 per day, per butler. 4 days/3 butlers = $300..not sure it was enough; but that was the guidance at the time. Caution: you can not see the ocean from the ground floor of any building on the resort because of the dunes. I had an oceanfront WALKOUT...could not see the ocean, nothin but dunes. If you get an ocean front/view room to have an ocean view, go up a floor. Also, the resort is small; although an oceanfront room will have a beautiful view; the walk from a standard room to the beach is nothing to worry about; it's not far at all.
