Fabulous boutique hotel near the harbor. Staff were helpful in suggesting great restaurant and hiking options. Super clean and spacious rooms. Special shout out to Daria, front desk receptionist. Welcoming, kind, helpful.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very convenient location as we had a rental car. We were able to use the hotel’s parking garage and do day trips and then it was a short walk into the old town each evening. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast spread was the best we had in Greece. The location was a bit loud as it’s on a Main Street, but that’s to be expected based on the convenience of the location. We stayed in the Junior Suite which was spacious and had two balconies.

This is the perfect location for visiting Chania. Only 5-10 mins walk to the bustle of the old town. Would definitely recommend 😁

The staff and service is top notch and they are really kind! The room itself was clean and the bed was nice. My favorite part about this hotel is their complimentary breakfast that is seriously out of this world — fresh cooked eggs (real eggs!), their version of sausage and bacon, fresh fruit, fresh juice, lots of bread options, and unique local Cretan/Greek options. I’m not kidding, the breakfast alone was worth it all.

This place was excellent, we stayed for 2 weeks and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, help us book/plan out excursions, include a delicious breakfast every morning, were friendly and had the sweetest hotel dog - definitely recommend :)

We loved our stay at Avra City Hotel. Its location next to the municipal gardens means that views from the balconies are leafy and there is the sound of birdsong and children’s laughter. It is just a ten-minute walk to the knot of cobbled streets that makes up old Chania. The hotel’s entrance is elevated above street level and once inside there’s an air of elegant spaciousness and calmness. Featuring sparkling floors, light-filled atria and sweeping staircases, the building is adorned with sculptures and plants. The hotel is managed with relaxed efficiency by a team of helpful, friendly, professional staff (with an additional welcome always given by an affable, elderly dog). Our room was fresh, immaculate and stylish, furnished with marble and wood. Crisp white linens on the bed were complemented by touches of blue velvet and the bathroom was spotless, light and airy. The breakfast buffet was beautifully presented with plentiful fresh and dried fruits, juices, all kinds of bread, pastries, Greek specialities and cakes, cheeses and hams, cooked bacon, sausages and eggs. At our request, the gracious lady attending at breakfast prepared Greek coffee and cappuccino for us. We were able to choose to sit either inside or on the patio. We hired a car so having access to the hotel’s underground garage was much appreciated. Altogether, a wonderful base for exploring Chania and Western Crete.
