"Pleasent stay."

9.0

Lovely old Manor House with plenty of character.

Bit tired, gardens weren’t well kept and slightly over grown.

"Penny-pinching hotel in superb location"

5.0

The hotel has been very grand in its time, and the location is second to none. A male member of staff, Michelle, from France, was outstanding and did what he could to meet the every need of our party of 9 people.

We have travelled extensively with our dog and we ensure that there is no evidence of him being in our rooms. We begrudgingly agreed to pay a premium of £40 for our dog compared to previously either "no charge" or £10 and once a maximum of £20. The £40 was described in the extensive set of rules that we had to sign as a "nominal charge", which by definition is inaccurate. On entry into the hotel we were greeted by more rules, including the fact that we had to be back in the hotel by 11pm as there were no night staff available to let us back in the building after that time. We were also told that if we wanted to book a breakfast it would be £17.50 compared with £10 if this was booked in advance, which arguably the day before was. We considered this to be unreasonable and asked for a compromise, given that there were 8 people in the party staying overnight and some simply required a very light breakfast. This was declined, so instead we visited a local pub for a very good breakfast. Apart from Michelle, a very good member of staff, the whole feel of the hotel was one of penny-pinching - one small bottle of soap for 2, meagre brew facilities, broken external windows etc. We paid in total £209 for a room without breakfast!!!!!

"Disaster. Never stay here"

2.0

Worst hotel experience. Owners don’t care. Arrived and explained I was handicapped. Put me on top floor with no lift. Staff watched me drag cases up stairs. Shower didn’t work and overflowed with waste. Locked out hotel at 10.10. After 45 mins I was advised hotel was locked early by mistake. Tried to complain but reception said they had no way to contact manager. Apparently manager pops in once a day and has no mobile number. This is a family hotel run by family who have no interest in guests. Stay anywhere but here
