Etango Ranch Guestfarm

We elected to stay at Etango Ranch because of its convenient location and because we had stayed there before, eleven years ago. A lot happens in eleven years. Unfortunately in this case it can only be described in terms such as Serious Deterioration, Old, Tired and in desperate need of revamp or close down. The evening meal was a disaster. Most of the guests described the main meal of beef steak as inedible. It was definitely the worst meal we had during our 24 day trip in Namibia. The bedroom was also not up to standard. Bedding was extremely old, course and we couldn’t sleep because we were kept awake wondering whether the beds were infested or not. The shower did not work properly and late the evening we had to seek assistance in dealing with this. The toilet system was clearly also in need of attention as the use of the toilet in the adjoining apartment resulted in our toilet “gurgling”. We were petrified that we would end up with a huge mess!!! The sunset drive with the young guide on duty was the only positive experience we enjoyed. We were very surprised to learn that there had not been a change in ownership because of the vast contrast with previous experiences.

We had a short, easy stay at Etango, beautiful grounds and animals all around. The room was comfortable and it was nice to have meals on the property.

We highly recommend the Etango Guest Ranch. The location is very close to the airport and the transfers both ways worked perfectly. The landscaping was beautiful and the people were very friendly. Don’t hesitate to stay at the Etango Guest Ranch.

Although we had made a mistake in the booking date and arrived a day late, we got a room at no extra cost. That was super fair. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Everything is clean and the food is delicious.

We stayed at the ranch before our flight due to the proximity to the airport. I wish we could have stayed an extra night at the property to enjoy their nature walk. We arranged airport transport to the airport upon our arrival to the ranch and it was very convenient. Meals at the ranch were thoughtfully prepared - I’m vegetarian. And my husband enjoyed the meat options as well.

We booked this last minute as did not want to stay in original.hotel that we had reserved wanted to be cl9servto airport so not such an early wake up. We drove down dirt track unfortunately new road being built right beside ranch but that did not take away the pleasant surprise quiant rustic ranch quiet too seeing as right by airport. The rooms are basic but clean and comfy only 8 little bungalows in cpurtyard believe more luxury there too. There was a sitting area outside small but ok bar and large lounge breakfast room. We had booked evening meala as not eaten all day. No choice it was set menu cauliflower soup was lovely would of been nice to have bread with it main was steak with pepper sauce and chips or wedges and broccolli pudding sponge and custard the swimming pool was mot clean but thats because out of season their winter so closed they had ostrichs and cattle and horses on the ranch no smell from any. Staff very polite courteous and friendly all in all nice 9ne night stay

Just opposite the airport at Windhoek, you couldn’t ask for a better location. The room was large and adjoined another room but there was no noise and the beds were comfortable and we slept well. Meals were good but fairly limited and the staff were fairly friendly if a little distant. It was a bit off putting when I arrived and someone was getting dressed in the dining area and I couldn’t find anyone who knew how to check in. Biggest problem for us was the wifi was switched off at 8:00 pm!

We stayed two nights at Etango and enjoyed every single moment there. The staff is very friendly and welcoming to us. The food is great and we have a great time there. The activities were very nice and offered us new experiences and nice views .

We enjoyed our stay at Etango Ranch ... close to the international Airport. We had a whole day to relax, it was quite and pleasant.

Although ERGF is very close to the airport, and that might be a reason to stay there, consider the experience I had stating one Saturday night: 1) Although I emailed I would be arriving at a specific time, and the the staff on duty opened to gate with a buzz, when I arrived 5 minutes later No One was there and I had to wait 15 minutes. Ricardo informed me he had to go to the bathroom at his house, and that was why he was late. Note: he also did not post ANY sign or message that he would be back 2) Although I had emailed I would definitely be having dinner, I was told there was no dinner reserved for me. I had to deal with correcting this service problem also. 3) The swimming pool was dirty and was filed with dead insects and droppings from the blown bushes 4) For dinner, the steak that I was served was POOR quality. It was very tough to chew. In 40 years of dining, this is the first time I ever was ever served a steak with meet difficult to chew. And, it was served with sauce, without asking me If I wanted sauce. Why they do not ask I do not understand. Btw, even if I wanted the sauce, the steak was too tough to eat! And, I was not offered anything else for dinner as a substitute for the uneatable steak. 5) When I was checking out the next day, their credit card reader wold not work with three different credit cards. ( Btw, when I arrived at the airport, and purchased a bottle of water ig was immediately approved.) The owner of ERGF, then wanted me to pay the additional charge for the exchange rate due to his cost to use a credit card , when I was going to pay in cash. I'd estimate that to be an additional 3%. However, since I was now paying in cash AND since it was not my fault that his CC payment system did not work, I informed him I did not think charging me that additional fee was fair. THEN, he got out of control emotionally, raised his voice and told me I was a typical American , and threatened if I did not go to the airport with him in 5 minutes he was leaving without me. So - do you really want to stay in a place like this - even though it is very close to the airport, with an owner who might go WACKO??/ 6) One more perspective, when the owner insisted I pay the additional rate - which I did not - he also stated I complained about everything. It is sad that an owner does not have the ability to listen to customs feedback, engage with a customer in a respectful manner, and, most importantly, use the feedback to improve service. Oh - one more thing, he also told me to never come back. I certainly will not and provided this review so future customers can decide if the ever want to stay at ERGF, and possibly be subjected to similar POOR SERVICE.
