"A bit expensive, but decent place to stay"

6.0

The hotel was okay. It was more of a hostel. Shared communal bathrooms, small tiny rooms big enough for just the beds. Around 15 minutes walk to where most of restaurants and shops were at. As far as the plus - the hotel has it's own restaurant, good accommodating customer service, free WiFi, the Airport Bus which most people use stops by this hotel first so you are guaranteed room (it fills up quick), the restaurant and the rest of the town take credit cards (including the bus), and most of tours will pick you up at your hotel so don't worry about the 15 minute walk to the central part of town. Just wish it was better priced for it's location.

"Good"

6.0

A pleasant experience over all but this is not somewhere where you go for being waited on or creature comforts. It's a place to sleep so that you can enjoy the many easy accessible adventures that Longyearbyen has to offer.

"Digestible price, decent place"

8.0

Not too bad but wouldn't stay there again. Wifi did not work for the first 2 days (out of 5), staff are a bit slow and some didn't really seem willing to help, even though two guys were really helpful. The rooms are very basic but also very clean, you can hear the people in adjacent rooms since walls are thin and the houses are all prefab. Breakfast is OK but lunch and dinner are NOT good value for money. You can get much better (and more) food in town for the same price. It's also a bit of a walk from town.

"Budge but comfortable accommodation"

8.0

The hotel in Longyearbyen are always busy & costly. This is our 2nd time to stay at Coal Miners Cabin, the guesthouse locate in the uphill so it need approx 30mins walk to the city centre & it is not a good walk during the winter especially with icy road & chilly wind. There are 3 accommodatiion in different block so be sure to ask for the accmmodation that in opposite side of the reception when check in so that u are no need to pick the luggage & have to walk a long way to the room. The canteen served with luch & dinner with reasonal price, food are declioious. Breakfast also good with a lot of choice. I will come back & stay with the same guesthouse next time definitely.

"Pleasant Hotel/Hostel"

8.0

Flight arrived late, so checked in about 1:00 am, but reception were expecting us. Easy to find, just hopped on Airport bus, and it was last stop. It's a bit of a walk from centre of town, but not hard, gently uphill climb.

"Basic accomodation"

6.0

With limited choice, this hotel is ok, nothing more or less. The only really annoying thing, the walls are paper thin and you can hear every word if someone is talking next door. Located around a 25min walk from town.

"An interesting place to stay"

8.0

Arrived on midnight flight bur reception well organised. Accomodation is simple but adequate for a short stay. An eye mask is essential in summer as curtains do not block the daylight. Earplugs are advisable in case there are noisy guests. The lounge area is pleasant and the breakfast good. Reception staff are helpful and give information on activities in the area. The main downside is its distance from town, the return walk would beome tedious if repeated too often, however, it was interesting to stay in a place of historical importance for Longyearbyen at the head of the valley.

"Better value for money in town."

6.0

Room small and shabby. Hear noise from all other rooms. Toilets & showers kept clean. Breakfast very good. Staff friendly. Far better value for money in town. We cancelled a second night at coal miners and stayed at Svalbard hotel, slightly more expensive but FAR better value for money! Also, long way out of town.

"what an unbelievable place to visit! "

10.0

Trip was incredible! Coal Miners Cabin was a fab place to stay. Quiet and comfortable rooms in an outpost type of town. The breakfast was great and the common room and bar was warm and cozy with a friendly, knowledgable and accommodating staff. The staff made travel/tour reservations for us when we arrived and even went as far as to make sure as one tour finished that we would be back in time to catch the next tour. They know everyone in town and got it all done for us! Remember in Longyearbyen is local custom to take your shoes off when entering a hotel, restaurant, museum. We brought our own comfy slippers but this hotel did have a great supply of crocs for those that did not bring slippers. You can also wear your socks inside.
