Smiles Beach Hotel

We had an awful experience at Smiles In Zanzibar. Our intentions were pure and to celebrate from thousands of miles away from home in the states. The check in process was smooth and it probably was because it was practically unoccupied. They weren’t very friendly nor were we greeted with {smiles}. I guess I’ll get to it, we got scammed. We used the in room safe box and our US money was stolen. The manager showed no remorse or genuine concern. We had to open a case with the local police department for an investigation. We tried our absolute best to resolve it with the hotel but they showed no empathy. They do not have cameras nor have modern technology to show who has access to their rooms. It was easy to steal from us because we were hardly there. The room was out dated and smelled horrible, the restaurant ran out of everything including ice. The food was mediocre and cold. I had work to do but the wifi barely connected. It’s very unfortunate how they treated us. We came there to have a good time and left in tears. Please do not risk your money, health or safety going to Smiles.

We had an extremely bad experience at this low budget motel inn. Please be advised, you will NOT smile when you arrive stay or leave. This place had no charm or character that you would expect for a stay in Zanzibar. The bed has only one side to enter and exit, which is concerning due to bed bugs and mites. We have bites all over our bodies and didn’t see a single mosquito. The breakfast is very continental and flies swarming around it. The server was nice but lacked customer service skills. The front desk was very nonchalant and unaccounted for. The room reeked of hot pee pee! I had to get lemon grass to help with the odor. There is no alcohol or cold refreshments. The ice machine was broken, the WiFi did not work. I am sadly disappointed with our stay, please do not book this hotel, save your money or spend a little more for a much better hotel experience.

Location

Our stay at Smiles Beach Hotel in Nungwi was absolutely terrible. The room was infested with bedbugs, the internet barely worked, and worst of all, money was stolen from our safe box. We immediately rrported to management filed a police report, and even the Chief of Police asked the hotel to resolve the matter with us. Despite that, management flatly refused to settle or take any responsibility. Their lack of professionalism and empathy was shocking. What should have been a peaceful vacation turned into a stressful and disappointing ordeal. The location may look appealing, but the hotel’s poor hygiene, unreliable Wi-Fi, and lack of security make it a place I would never recommend. Stay away from this property if you value your safety and peace of mind.

Boa estrutura do hotel, aconchegante, reservado. Tinha gerador de eletricidade, assim não ficamos sem luz. Comida muito boa, praia boa a frente , com segurança. Cama gigante maravilhosa. Foi incrível!

Hotel had many good points however, the in house Massages were excellent. I completely recommend giving Dr Amr who is a qualified chiropracter and his team a visit. The range of massages were brilliant and he even supplied me with free physio for an existing issue.
