The Roundabout Hotel

This hotel is excellent, in context. It is an old building (oak beams etc) that was not designed as a hotel, and is a small business. It you are expecting 24 hour reception, concierge, and the other trappings of an international business/resort hotel, this is not for you. What you get is a clean, comfortable, quiet hotel in a rural location with modern bathroom/plumbing, friendly staff and good food. The standard breakfast is a cold buffet - cereals, cheese, cold meats, fresh fruit etc. The cooked breakfast is freshly made on request for an extra charge (35% discount if paid in advance), and was very well prepared. We paid £102 for bed & cooked breakfast for 2 people. Unexpectedly, the carvery was offered on the night we stayed and as a served at table meal. Again well-cooked, hot and with 7 different vegetables, yorkshire pudding, stuffing, pig in blanket, in addition to the meat - we had the beef. Excellent value at £18 each.

Nothing we would complain about. Bear in mind that West Chiltington and Pulborough are small places, so not many shops etc or too much to see or do, but the hotel is a good base for visiting attractions in the wider area or if you have business meetings in Sussex. You definitely need a car.

On arrival I was given a warm welcome. Staff very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We were pleasantly surprised that our room so big. But also cozy. This is an old, authentic hotel, with plenty of character, offering a wonderful relaxed ambience. I loved the traditional decor and creaky floors. We had everything we needed in our hotel room, including tea/coffee facilities. Slept well. Very quiet. We enjoyed a beautiful meal in the restaurant. Food cooked to perfection. Breakfast was a good selection of continental produced. Fantastic value for money, I will definitely be revisiting.

I’ve stayed at this property multiple times over the past few years. Service really lacked this time. Trying to get served in the bar / restaurant was slow and not attentive. Had to ask for things multiple times and it was not busy in restaurant (drinks / water etc). The food was ok, few things off the menu not available. Breakfast the next morning was probably the biggest let down. Was down there by 8.15, the lady disappeared, went to find her, even rang the front desk bell and no one came. Waited ages for her to return to finally ask for bread as none out! No offer of the hot breakfast, when we finally again managed to get her attention we got an attitude of a response ‘yes we do English breakfast only at £12.95’ we’ve been here in multiple times before and there has bern a choice, although no one in our party was vegetarian we were advised it’s a full English only! We did have one party who is Coeliac, and yet no bread for her. A real let down this time. It’s never been my favourite for quality food, however this time proved that.

For once there wasnt anything i disliked

Our room has comfortable chairs. The room was large. The bed was very comfortable. They provide lots of storage and hanging space.

The room was much nicer than we expected it to be, with a large bathroom. It was warm and comfortable, and quiet. There was plenty of space for parking.

The breakfast buffet was a bit limited and not very imaginative, but coffee was very nice, and everything was clean and the breakfast room was very pretty.

Comfortable, quiet and clean room. Parking on the side. Nice pub aside.
