The Sun Inn

The landlady was warm and welcoming. I had a delicious pasta dinner and a well-earned pint after walking part of Hadrian's Wall earlier in the day. Parking was dead easy - right outside the pub. I had a full English breakfast to set me up for the drive home, which was fine.

I didn't like sharing a bathroom - bit past that at my age, but having said that I didn't have to wait to use it. The bath is very small. I was hoping for a hot soak after a long walk but it is both short and quite shallow so I was constantly up and down warming legs or shoulders. I am 6' but I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a bath to accommodate me these days. Bedroom had a sink, a desk and a wardrobe. reminded me of my student digs at uni.

The Sun Inn is a great hotel above a lovely village pub in Acomb. The lady and gentlemen running it were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom facilities - which I shared, based on my room booking - were smart, clean, and comfortable. The quality of peace and quiet was surprisingly high. The pub downstairs is a classic old British village pub with a warm and cosy atmosphere among a mixture of visitors and local "regulars".
