The room, pool, bar and restaurant everything was really great. Very clean and good equipped. The area by the pool is simply wanderfull. The food was great, especially Marina in the restaurant was great, help us with everything and we had the best time ever.

The hotel is ideally located in the charming small town of Stari Grad — perfect for young couples. We had an amazing experience. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent. Breakfast offered plenty of variety, including a generous à la carte menu. A special thanks to Stefan, whose professionalism and warm approach truly made our stay exceptional. Any issues we had were resolved quickly. And lastly, the cocktails were absolutely fantastic!

We recently had an incredible stay at Hvar Places Hotel by Valamar in Stari Grad, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience for the whole family! My kids were absolutely delighted with everything the hotel had to offer – from the beautiful surroundings to the well-organized activities. The entire atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing, perfect for a family getaway. A special thank you goes to Mr. Ivan Polak, who truly went above and beyond in making our stay seamless and enjoyable. We arrived with a private boat, and his assistance made the entire process smooth and stress-free. His exceptional hospitality really set the tone for a memorable vacation. We can't wait to return and create more wonderful memories here!

Hotel Grounds and Pools The hotel is in a beautiful setting by the sea shore in pretty, well kept gardens. There are plenty of sunbeds and different seating areas including free to use cabana beds, tee-pees, bean bags etc. There was no need to reserve your sunbed either which was refreshing! The trees along the shore line do cast shade in some areas at different times of the day. One pool is heated, the other not. Some afternoons there is a DJ but when we were there not always at the advertised times but this was probably due to the dull weather. There is also a pool bar open during the day. It wasn't an adult only hotel but there were only a few children there when we stayed. We were surprised there were a few dogs also staying who are allowed in all areas of the hotel including the restaurant (no issues caused by them whilst we stayed). Restaurant The breakfast choice was the biggest and most varied that we have ever seen including oysters, smoked salmon, hummus, made to order omelettes and all the other regular morning items. It all seemed home made including the croissants. There was always plenty of staff to serve and clear tables. It was served 7-11am which was nice and relaxing. The Flexi Half Board system worked well for us in that you get an allowance of 25 euros per person per day (so for us 350 euros for the week). There is free soup, salad and bread at lunchtime and early evening so you can use the euros against drinks, snacks and main meals. We ate in four evenings that week as there is a good choice on the menu including pizzas. It was nice that you didn't have to go out to the town if you didn't want to. Ordering was via an app on your table and then charged to your room watch. Stari Grad The town is about a 20 minute flat walk straight along the inlet with really pretty views as you approach of the church and old buildings. The main supermarket is here as well as a good choice of restaurants set around the harbour with a nice buzz. We ere lucky that there was a Boat Festival on so there were a lot more super yachts and much older types moored as well as stalls set up with food tastings from Holland etc. Hvar Town We booked with reception (always very helpful especially Grgo) their mini bus into Hvar Town which runs about 8 times a day with the last return about 9pm. It costs 14 euros per person each way (56 euros total as a couple). The taxis can be more than that one way. Hvar is much busier with a fort set high up on the hill open to the public and many bars, restaurants, gelaterias and high end shops. There was a decided lack of the usual souvenir shops though! There is another flat walk round to the right of the harbour that follows the coastline with plenty of seats along the way and views of the islands. Room We had the first level of room for two people classed as Small (12msq.). It was probably the smallest room we have ever stayed in! There was a narrow entrance hall with some storage on a rack system, a small shower room and then a King size bed (very comfortable especially the soft pillows) which took up the whole room really. You could just about walk round the bed. We took two large suitcases so it was a challenge storing our clothes and other items as well as the suitcases themselves. The air con and safe were free as was a beach bag with two sunbed towels in to use and a bottle of still water. There was a large wall mounted TV which had one english TV channel (News 24). There was also a small balcony with table and chairs. The biggest disappointment for us was the 'garden view' which turned out to be over the entrance to the hotel and the car park! I prefer a garden view to a sea view but this was not a pretty garden view! This was the only negative as far as we were concerned. We were a a bit unlucky that they were having their worst September weather for years so we had three days of either cooler temperatures, thunderstorms or rain which was a shame and therefore spent a bit more time in the room than we would have hoped to. Transfer to hotel We booked via Easyjet and everything went smoothly in that the taxi was waiting for us at Split airport but then a 3.5 hour wait for the ferry. Luckily our driver dropped us at the luggage storage so we had lunch in Split before the ferry. Then 1.5 hours on the ferry and another short taxi ride to the hotel round the bay. Coming back our pick up was 4.45am for an 11.10am flight back from Split. It varies what you read as to whether the transfer is two hours or five hours! In summary we really enjoyed our stay in a beautiful setting , very friendly, helpful staff, a restaurant of a very good standard, enjoyed the Flexi half board system, near to the town of Stari Grad with the only down side the size and view from our room. Would recommend the next level of room up.

I would like to write a special review regarding two of the staff at the hotel. Both Grgo and Helena both went above and beyond their duties to help us when we appeared to have missed our transfer going home, which included two taxi's and the catamaran. They made sure we managed to get to the airport to make our flight home. We are so grateful to them for their amazing efforts.

Overall excellent hotel. Lovely clean rooms try and book the medium size for extra room. Breakfast amazing with loads of choice! Great idea with the wrist bands to give you a spend per day which was flexible. Lots of sun beds and chilled boho garden areas. Free sun beds near the sea which was crystal clear. Special mention to Suriana one of the cleaning staff for being do lovely and cheerful every day! Tips: watch the steps into the sea as they are VERY slippery! Bring mozzie spray. We hired bikes at the hotel to cycle to Jelsa over the plain which was lovely! Book a facial at the spa area it was the best! They provide beach towels which you can swap for clean ones for €2 each. Take the water taxi for €2 into Stari Grad it’s a great way to travel. Best restaurants are Nook (Thai curry is fab) Konoba Pharia for the walled garden and The Blue Doors their triangles starter and raspberry white choc dessert are to die for! Enjoy you’ll love it!

Room- Tiny and could hardly stand in the shower. But bed very comfortable and modern room. Hotel looked a little tired. Food- Breakfast was nice. Lunch and dinner the same all day every day. Felt a little like a canteen atmosphere. Drinks weren’t the best. Clean pool and nice vibe around the pool, beautiful scenery down by the water absolutely stunning. Stari grad is a stunning location too.
