Talana Hotel

The room was light and airy and overlooked the fields so no road noise. Whilst as a 2 star we did not expect a lot, the service we found lacking.reception was not regularly manned and guests were ignored when waiting for reception or to check out. We enjoyed the stay overall but found the owners a little rigid and not very people friendly at times.The hotel is a walk of 20 mins or so to St Helier so ideally located. The bed was very comfy and breakfast was good with cereals and hot options.cleaning was really good, towels changed every day.

Excellent value for money

I think this hotel is overpriced for its (not very professional) service. The hotel building is quite old and (rather slow) WiFi is available only at the lobby/lounge area. Receptionist is not always at the reception. Its location is not too bad but is quite far from the town centre if you are on foot.

Bed mattresses old & springs uncomfortable. No extractor fan in bathroom - very muggy. Cooked breakfast a bit small.

Very friendly and well-run hotel, pleasant rooms, good pool. On the downside it has weak Wifi in guest rooms, guest TVs are unusually small, and breakfast doesn't start until 8.30! Location is good if you have a car, or once you have worked out the operation of the No 2 bus, which - like the hotel - works well but has its eccentricities.

This is a nice clean hotel with efficient breakfast service. It is quite dated but in a nice way- genuine vintage. It has a nice calm feel to it and is close enough to the town to walk.

Lovely hotel .. should be a 4 star not a 2! It’s not the most modern but it has everything you need … clean , comfy beds, tea/coffee tray with kettle , small TV , plenty of towels .

Breakfast Poor, small cereal box, not able to mix your cooked breakfast. Same breakfast every morning, bacon not cooked properly, sausage very poor quality. No choice but have scrambled egg for complete stay. Would have liked mudrooms or well cooked bacon to flavour eggs, informe,not allowed for convenience of the chef. Seems breakfast are designed for the proprietor rather than the customer.

Room was fine, if a little basic, but overlooked the main road, and as there was no air conditioning , I had to leave the windows open at night due to the high temperatures , which was a bit noisy. The room was cleaned and new towels provided every day, which was good. Breakfast was restricted to 1hour, between 8.30 and 9.30 and there was a good choice of cereals, orange juice and bread for toast. Tea or coffee were brought to the table , and although the cooked breakfast menu options were limited, the cooked English breakfast was excellent, which suited me and the table service was very efficient and friendly. Parking is available which is a plus. The beach was only a short , 10 - 12 minutes, walk from the hotel. Only limited Wi-Fi, available only in the reception area, no wi-fi in the rooms The hotel also has a bar and a swimming pool, neither of which I used, but looked fine. Overall, I enjoyed my short stay at the Talana and consider it good value for a pretty basic , no-frills hotel.
