StarCity Hotel Alor Setar

The hotel was located in the town area. Convention to find food. The front office staff was very friendly. The room was ok only. Very limited TV channel available. The cleanness was ok. The hotel was fully booked on my stay, Did not manage to get my prefered bed.

We were into the restaurant breakfast around 10am,we have welcome by mr sidiq after we have sitted we in 4 paxs tables 2+2. We are the only guest at that time. I order additional 1 more breakfast set for my kids to share after awhile our 2 set food came in left my wife food not even came. awhile we waited our food to come 3 guys wearing uniform maybe In house staff or matainance management just sit right next to us in meanwhile I waited for my wife food n i saw the staffs brings the 3 guys food first then i started to question the waitress azha who works in the beverages she answer me with very impolite sounds n irritating tones when I asked my wife's food she answer me ''wait they are still cooking it now'" I answer her but we came first before them beside my wife is pregnant then she just walk off with the attitude.. I knew I shouldnt put too much hope on the quality service but at least they should be concerned especially this pandemic hotels business really drop n they should chenge they way they thinks n works extra effort.. Really making me so frustrated especially me n my wife ex hoteliers.. They should wake up n mangememt should take action on this. Fix it coz this type of attitude will harm the reputation of the hotel n negative attitude simply spreads to all the staffs just like FUNGUS...

Very old school hotel. Some facilities were not operational probably due to no funding to fix

The buffet breakfast not been filled once it's finished. Advise do not go too late like after 8:30am

No safety box, dirty, the breakfast buffet no refill when finished

The hotel is centrally located which is very important. Walking distance to a mall is also an added plus. Room is basic but clean and decent. There is a coffee shop downstairs, food is not bad either.

We booked a Studio Room which was very spacious and well laid out. The bathroom though was somewhat small for the size of room. Towels were paper thin. There was also a lack of power points. Not all rooms have a safe, we were luck ot have one. Walls are quite thin, we could hear our neighbours above us and beside us having a shower....it was quite loud. The phone connection in the room was very poor, we had to jiggle to cord to get it to work properly. This hotel needs major refurbishing as it looked tired. The receptionist took a long time to process our check in and check out as there was only 1 receptionist who knew the process.

Had been two years since I last stayed in this hotel. The experience was great and the hospitality has been excellent as usual. This time, I booked two rooms for 6 nights for a family trip. I have requested to change the rooms as the allocated rooms were far from the lift which was very inconvenience for my mother who needs assistance , Mr Rahmat was very accomodating and changed the rooms immediately. A slight improvement in the buffet breakfast would let give the place a FIVE stars rating instead of Four. Overall, I would return and recommend this hotel to those who might be visiting Alor Setar.
