Residence Inn Bismarck North

This was the dirtiest hotel I’ve -ever- stayed in. It looks like they’ve just given up trying. We were “upgraded” (sold out) to 2 bedroom suite. We had booked 1 bedroom suite. Upon walking in the room I could tell it hadn’t been cleaned. Splattered spills and other debris on the carpets… I went to the bedroom and pulled back the blanket to find hair - 2 different types (was a hairdresser 25 years- so I’m Positive) so I went down to the front desk and asked for new linens. I changed the bed myself and left the old linens on the floor. The next day they recleaned the room and left a rag on the floor in the bedroom.. I understand finding help is difficult, but this room had so much build up in corners, and on the furniture, it’s unacceptable. Breakfast was also very off brand for Bonvoy. Just think twice before booking this property.

We were here for just one night before ending our trip to North Dakota and flying out of Bismarck. The hotel is a your usual Residence Inn, which in itself is fine. However, I wanted to give a shout out to the guy at the front desk, Jake. When we checked into our room we found it hadn't been taken care of by housekeeping. When we came back down to the front desk Jake apologized for the error, took us personally to our next room and the next morning comped our Marriot Bonvoy account with a chunk of points. He was pretty much work solo that evening and wearing many hats. Mistakes happen, it's what is done to rectify them when they do. Jake made a 3-4 star rating a 5-star.

Loves this hotel! Layout was phenomenal. It was clean. My parents and I stayed in a two bedroom suite, which had two separate bathrooms and their own private bathrooms. There was a full kitchen and living room. SUCH a reasonable rate too!! The breakfast was decent. Staff was kind, wonderful and helpful. There were options for snacks and drinks, including some alcoholic beverages. There was a lovely little courtyard with a fire-pit and grill. Loved this hotel! Will stay there every time I’m in Bismarck.

Someone tried to break into our room in the middle of the night -- not once but TWICE. Fortunately, we had remembered to activate the deadbolt and the two break-ins were not successful. This was in mid-August. Since then, we have been trying to get the hotel to take responsibility for this horrendous situation. The hotel does not care. A manager from Marriott central called and they basically told her the same thing. My husband and I are in our 70s. Can you imagine what would have happened had they gotten in? We could have ended up in the hospital with shock. Someone, hotel management had given another customer a key to our room. This is VERY VERY VERY serious. And yet, the hotel does not care.

The only issue I had with the hotel is the first morning my hubby went to get some coffee at the breakfast area. It was 9:45 am. Breakfast was scheduled to be over at 10 am. He just wanted coffee. There was nothing left for breakfast including coffee. There was a staff person there speaking broken English. He was telling those coming in for breakfast, “No more. No more food.” When asked if they were going to cook anymore food or coffee, he kept saying no, no. Why is it advertised until 10 am if they aren’t serving until then?

Excellent stay. We were there for 44 days so had a 1 bedroom suite. If I wanted to cook - great - had a stove and fridge. Close to restaurants if you don't. Large selection of breakfast items. Employees were super to work with and went out of their way to help. Fresh cookies most days were a plus! Large king bed was very comfy. 2nd year at this hotel and next summer plans to return in works.

Gentlemen at the front desk for check in was very kind. Made things very simple and quick. Room was spacious and nice.

Our only negative was that there was a very strong smell of urine in the room. We were in 210. The room itself was very nice and appeared very clean. The smell was strong tho!

Staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable.

Furniture I.e. chair in room needed to be replaced. Fabric was torn off the back of the chair. Room had a pull out but no bedding for it. Had to go to front desk to obtain. No signage in the room indicating you needed to request fresh towels. No extra Kleenex,toilet paper etc. in the room. Again, needed to go to front desk to get towels etc. Our pile of wet towels laid in the hall.
