"Dining Experience"

I spent a week in Kenmare in July 2025 and went to The Lansdowne one evening for dinner. I ordered the Aubergine Schnitzel. It was the worst meal I had in Kenmare not just this year but in any of the last 13 years. The presentation was awful being basically a deep fried lump of batter on the plate with a few meagre lettuce leave and a few half cherry tomatoes on the side, far from the 'herby salad' described. It was difficult to get at the aubergine it was so encrusted into the batter and it was flavourless. I thought the Lansdowne had a reputation - how any chef could have produced a meal like this is beyond me.....the cost of €24 did not help. Won't be back

"Home away from Home"

A home away from home, second visit to this lovely hotel. We received such a lovely warm welcome and the room was so warm and welcoming with some nice treats. We dined in both the cafe and restaurant both were the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food beautifully presented and delicious. The overall decor of the hotel is warm and inviting and we are already looking forward to booking our next stay.

"Good service and staff!"

Was travelling through the west of ireland recently on a road trip with friends, decided to pop in to the Lansdown for coffee. Place was very busy but staff were handling it very well. Coffee arrived quickly and was fab 👌🏼. I was enquiring to the girl on reception (Eve I think her name was) about booking in the future and she was very helpful and full of local knowledge. Definitely will be back to stay in the future!

Great coffee- possibly best around! Staff were also very accommodating as one of our party had an allergy which was no hassle to them.. Will be returning!

I am very sad to see the negative feedback towards this cafe. As a local person who enjoys it on a daily basis, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is lovely. I’m sure it was a very busy time like lots of restaurants you visited at a very busy time. It is hard for the young people to work and I think a little patience and understanding would go a long way. I for one rate this cafe very highly as do my friends who enjoy it most days
