Hotel Hibiscus

Our room was decorated with flowers when we arrived. So sweet! It was a good sized room and didn't feel cramped like some hotels. The location was quiet, private and on the beach plus it has a good size swimming pool in the center of the property. (right outside our door) An on-site restaurant offered meals with a view of the ocean. Local stores were within walking distance. An off street parking area was available behind reception to park our rental car. Recommend renting a car! Saw many tourist trying to hitchhike in the heat.

The cottages are roomy and each has a porch. Comfortable bed. Fan speed was not fast enough to keep the room cool. No screen on the slider door. Shower was used a lot because of the heat. Very nice restaurant on the premises. Pool should have been cleaned more often.

Helpful front desk staff and magical location. Enjoyed the proximity of our room and the nearby facilities were handy. Restaurant staff could have been more attentive and friendly but on the whole a fabulous place to stay.

We were 25 yards from water and restaurant / bar. Next door was additional top restaurant, "The Mayflower". Food was very good at hotel "The Sunset" but servers were a bit slow to warm up to limited French speakers, but they may also be slow to warm up to anyone. The location was ideal. We took kayak to Motu Tiahura where Coco Beach restaurant was located, but it was not open. Owner was preparing for Saturday feast which was going to included a whole lamb and better half of a pig. Snorkling on WNW side was the best we have ever done. Great live coral, every fish you could think of. Rays were very friendly and swam up expecting to have their backs and side rubbed. It was great

Three wonderful days, with the dial turned right down. Beach view fale definitely recommended - close to restaurant and beach. Food at the restaurant was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed being able to eat breakfast and lunch on our porch. I enjoyed the lizards, chickens and bird life, and the fan in the room kept it cool in the evenings. A lovely, better than budget but not 'resorty' time out.
