Hotel Neue Post - 4 Sterne Superior

I stayed at this hotel with friends for a short ski-ing trip and it was wonderful. We booked 2 "suite" rooms, each had a small seating space for us to socialise as a group of 4 - the one in the Pool Suite was especially good for this. This room also had a sliding door to close between the bedroom and the living area which included a wide sofa which can also be used as a bed (bedding provided). We did not hear a single noise from other guests the entire stay, despite our room being directly opposite the door entrance to the rooftop pool (not direct access to the pool, but just a few steps over the corridor). The bathroom was huge and modern, robes and slippers provided and the room included a coffee pod machine and fridge. We came for the ski-ing and the food! First the ski-ing: super convenient location, either a short walk (up hill) to the main Penken gondola, or the ski bus which stops directly outside the hotel and takes 3 mins. The terrain was lovely and very easy to navigate - would recommend for families with children as it's not easy for small ones to take wrong turns or accidentally end up on tricky runs. We did use the bus to the glacier for a day which is included in the lift pass and well worth it, if you are a competent skier/boarder you will cover the whole of the main Mayrhofen terrain in 2 days otherwise. Hotel provides a heated locker for your equipment. And the food - fabulous. You are assigned a table in the restaurant area for everyday's breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is 100% self serve from an extensive buffet and dinner is a mix of self-serve from a salad bar/hot-serve area and some courses are chosen from a short menu and served at the table. Each evening there was a meat, fish and veggie choice plus a separate vegan and separate child menu. The wine list in the printed menu is short... but just ask for the Wine-Pad which has hundreds of choices! Between 2.30-4.30 the buffet area is open for salads, breads and cakes. We sadly only used it on our arrival day because of never being back before 5 on ski days - but it would be a brilliant service if you are doing shorter days. The pools were gorgeous. 3rd floor outdoor pool with a lovely shower/changing/seating area attached and a drinks service to the pool! Views of the mountains, heaven. Basement level indoor pool with bubble areas, family (clothed) sauna, heated loungers and a large relax/quiet space with big curtained double-bed cabins and an infra red sauna. Also a separate set of naked saunas for adults. So much better than I had expected from the hotel pictures! And a fast lift connects the 2 pools so you dont have to wander around reception in your robe. Service was efficient and friendly at all points. The whole experience was easy, relaxing, indulgent.. just everything you would want from a short break away from the kids and work! Hotel is at the bottom of the main road/hill along which there are tonnes of shops and bars, but away from the potentially noisier part right by the Penken lift. Seems like people have a few beers at the top of the hill about 4pm and then ride the last gondola down at 5, and maybe there's a lot of partying then, but it was all very peaceful (maybe even a little too quiet) down our end of the village. The old buildings are beautiful - yes there is a church whose bells ring but I never heard it from inside the room! It will be hard to beat this trip and the only reason we're not immediately re-booking is the appeal of trying different ski terrains. We may yet decide the hotel was so good it's worth it! Beautiful resort in a beautiful town. The staff and hospitality were second to none. The dinners, food service were exceptional. Would recommend and/or visit again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was amazing. Lots of saunas to choose from. Stunning rooftop pool. Heated equipment room. Additional activities during the evening such as wine tasting, jazz evening, dj evening
