"Adequate"

6.0

Cocanut Creek was pretty basic. The grounds are lovely although there's not really a river to view. My room was about as basic as they come, but it was clean and everything functioned well - including the AC. Friends we're staying at the Abad a half mile away. That looked very nice.

"Very good value"

8.0

Given the cost this was a great stay. The accommodation is quite basic but is fine. The location is quite remote, which is what we wanted, it's surrounded on two sides by canals which is lovely. To get to the main town of Kumarakom it's a tuk tuk ride or a nice 20/30 min walk. However, the free breakfast isn't great, so don't rely on it. Also, access to the bedrooms is locked at night, so you have to ring the main bell to get in which is slightly annoying. Staff were lovely. To get there ask your driver to take you to the main church in Nazareth, and it is diagonally opposite across the crossroads. Would stay here again.

"Rooms were clean, well maintained."

No so good experience at this place, owned was quick to ask for advance payment as soon as we entered, the Homestay was far from backwater, market, restaurants and site seeing places, you need to travel 3-4 km for food, taking advantage of it the in-house kitchen food was costly considering its OK taste and very limited variety in offering.

Hmm... Neither here nor there. Hard to find. They try hard. But I thought it was a little overpriced for what we got.

"Nice landscaped out doors."

It is far from the airport. it took us about 2 hours to get to the hotel. the sign of the hotel is not very clear and a lot of people do not know it. so tell the taxi driver Hotel Zuri or Royal Grove. it is close to these two hotels. also there are many churches In the area. but mention Nazareth Church to the taxi driver. The people of Kerala do not speak much English or Hindi. Communication can be a problem. Get a prepaid taxi from the airport. it is expensive though. the owner is a quiet man. however the supervisor LalChand that runs the grounds is very smart. He speaks some good English. he is pleasant and took good care of us. he makes good food. be aware that the rooms are very small. the room has fan and A.C. mosquitos can be a problem. the streets are not lit so carry a flash light when out after dark. also rickshaws are scarce so be aware. the area is full of coconut named resorts. so make sure you tell the right one. Please do not give business to house boats. they are a disaster to the lake. if you do want to be on a house boat find one that is environmentally friendly.

"Comfortable stay...."

10.0

I visited Coconut Creek on 28th Dec,2013 with my parents and sister. The stay was comfortable and i loved the hospitality. The food was delicious and i wanted a cab it was arranged quick and fast. I will recommend this place to family. However, what i faced as a concern is they do not accept card (debit/credit). I was falling short of money and wanted to use my credit but to my surprise they only take cash. This place is open for foreigners and if you have people staying, i will recommend to keep this as an option or always have cash if you stay in Coconut Creek. Thanks, Catherine
