Lucky Mother Bungalow Chaweng

This was my 1st time after my boyfriend recommended it as he had stayed here before!! I can honestly say I would not put my dog in this place!! On arrival we were greater by a not so polite woman!! Who took forever to find our booking even though we provided her with all our documents!! The place is crawling with cats and has a strong urine smell at the front where they provide food!! We were finally showed to our room (old style bungalow) which stunk of damp!! I asked for one more towel and was basically shouted at!! One towel per person!!The shower didn't work the bath room was full of damp on the ceiling!! The next day we requested a new room due to the smell!! We were moved roomed not a problem! But this was no better this one had holes in the door the water in the shower sprayed every way but down, I had to clean the floor myself as it had quiet a bit of sand, we were there when they had the bad rain, I tried to block the door with carrier bags and toilet paper, I have never been biten so bad, when booking and excursion the person in the shop said my bites looked more like bed bugs, we checked out and checked into the hotel over the road!! They don't clean the rooms or changed your towels unless u request which we was not informed of on check in! When checking out they have a cheek to withhold your passport until they have checked the room you could possible do nothing to make it any worse!!!

We have stayed here twice before this visit and have always loved it. Granted we normally visit in the low season when it is much quieter and more relaxed. We were really disappointed with our New Year's stay here this year. When we walked into the reception area (which also has a restaurant, massage beds looking out to sea and a reggae bar set up on the beach) there was an overpowering smell of urine. The communal toilets were never very nice to use and there is a broken urinal, so maybe the smell came from this but there are also a large amount of cats kept at the hotel so this could also be the cause. We are both animal lovers, but there must be at least 20 cats kept in the hotel. They sit on the tables where people eat and on people's balconies including any wet clothes you leave out to dry. We were given the front bungalow, which was very nice. However, outside the bungalow was a pond of fish. Within that was a cylinder of stagnant water containing no fish. This caused a lot of mosquitoes. We actually live in Thailand, so are very used to a few mosquitoes but this was a lot and there were large gaps in the door frame so we knew we would get munched during the night. We reported this. Instead of just sorting the problem, the owner pointed out the fish in the pond that would eat the mosquitoes. We had to take her to show her the stagnant water for her to do something. They put a cover over the water and we were happy, until we went to our room at about 11pm. The bar was still open and was playing very loud music which is fine. It was after all the day before New Years Eve and people were celebrating but we could not even hear each other talk in the room and the door was shaking from the bass. We asked to be moved to a room further away from the bar and the owner did oblige, but had to make a defensive comment about it being 'party time'. The staff knew full well before the put us in that room that the noise would be a problem and should have warned us in the first place. So we moved and were quite happy with new room until we heard our neighbours. A large group of drunk and rowdy people who sat on their balcony laughing and shouting past 2 in the morning. This was not the hotels fault, but there are notices about being considerate to other guests and a 24hr security guard who did nothing. First thing in the morning we asked to move rooms yet again. We moved into the block at the back of the bungalows. The rooms were actually much nicer and larger. They were a lot quieter than our first night, however we still needed earplugs and were still kept awake every night by a night club right opposite the room which played drum and base until about 4am and again very noisy guests in the adjacent rooms. It is a shame we had this experience because before this trip we would have said that Lucky Mother was one of our favourite places to stay.

Decent budget hotel next to the beach. Rooms are big and generally clean. Fairly silent a part from some music I could hear from a club nearby... But that's inevitable in this area. Stuff really cool and friendly ... They really go the extra mile. Now on the negative side the complex is quite simple and a bit aged. Got Ants on my bed and one my body while sleeping.. Again..That's not very unusual in cheap hotels on the ground floor in Thailand. Shower and toilet were working very poorly. Overrall I would stay if I was in a very low budget.. But I wasn't so I moved into an upper class hotel.

Snagged a small, yet cozy, clean and basic room for 3 nights while on the island. We stayed in November so a room with the fan was sufficient to keep us cool. The room while very basic, suited our needs. While we were there it was quiet each night. The perk is that the beach is just a few steps from the rooms, not easy to come by on the island without paying heftier prices. The staff offers $10 amazing Thai massages right there steps from the beach. The only downside was that you are limited to one towel in the room and we didn't have room in our packs to travel with beach towels. For budget travel, this was a great place.

The room had a slight mildewy smell (which unfortunately is one of my pet peeves). They also have quite a number of cats and some of the ally between the rooms and the counter smells of cat urine (another big dislike for me). The service was pretty decent. They helped us to get an early morning taxi and also had someone available to check us out and return our deposit early in the morning

This hotel is great situated in the heart of chaweng, as well as right on the beach. They have no area for sunbeds or swimming pool, but u can find places nearby which offers sunbeds. There's no food serving either, but they have a cool little bar (only drinks) on the beach. My room was quite small, with no mini bar. There was no cleaning neither the 2 nights i stayed there. Overall it's an ok hotel for the price, but if you want more luxury, amenities and a cozy atmosphere, I would book elsewhere. (Like the Blue Lagoon)

Very nice accommodation and cool staffs, Directly located on a beautiful beach of chaweng, a lot of bars on the left and right side. good to relax on day time and good parties for night life activities..

Hands down the best place for a drink or some food on Chaweng. We didn't stay there this time, but I have stayed here before and no problems at all. We went here on multiple occasions to start the night, but usually ended up staying until "close." Tong(spelling) the manager was great and his team of entertainers/bartenders know what they are doing! When we are back on Samui we will stop by Lucky mother again, good fun!!

Man får det man betalar för. Nära till festliv men ändå rätt avskilt. Rummen fina men vi hade myror i det första rummet så vi fick byta men tyvärr samma sak där.

We get to the reception desk and the lady in the front (you cant miss her) greets you with a nasty frown on her face and a "what do you want" as a welcoming. We stayed for 4 nights and the second night there we found ants all over our bathroom area which was disgusting. The bathroom water from both the sink and the shower also reeked of sewage. The list of problems do not stop there. The service at this place was unbelievably poor. We asked for a change of towels after our time at the beach and the notoriously horrible witch at the front would refuse to provide us with one, so we were forced to shower without towels. Also, when the maid came to clean our room she left the door unlocked!! Someone could have came into our room and stole our valuables including money and passports. Beware of this "hotel", you will regret your stay.
