The Hardiman

Great location. Staff are lovely. We were celebrating my husband’s 40th and they left a lovely desert in the room for us. Breakfast was good.

There was a bad smell in the corridor. Room was small and stuffy for the price that we paid. Double bed was two single mattresses which was not very comfortable. There was building works outside our room which started at 7.30am Saturday morning.

It’s and old run down hotel definitely not as impressive as the pics shabby workmanship all throughout the hotel room furniture and bathroom has seen better days breakfast was stone cold

Hotel location is really good as its located in city centre. The hotel it self looks amazing it has this old fashion and beautiful look from inside. I got the hardiman valentines package ended up paying 400 euro for 1 night stay with a romantic candle lit dinner with a bottle of there house wine and breakfast next morning + the room of course. room it self was terrible very poorly managed the advertised and information about the room dont match at all very misleading and it was terrible bathroom was mouldy cobwebs in the room with a whole bunch of dust and the window looked like they haven't been cleaned since the 1940s. The only good thing was the big and comfortable bed. But the biggest problem came when I entered the restaurant for the valentines dinner and it was terrible. On arrival we got seated but the seats are soo close to each other I felt like im having a group dinner instead of a romantic candle lit dinner. Then once we looked around our table had no chocolates like the other tables there was no butter for the little breads they bring out and the so called fresh water was half empty they obviously didnt change it after the previous people. After that they gave us a choice of red or white wine which was nasty cheapest red wine I ever had and the white that the couple next to us had said the same. Once the starters came out there wasn't much to speak about the bread was hard and it tasted like it was left out for too long main course i got ribs was bland no flavour except the mash was good left the rest, desert was advertised as strawberry and raspberry cheesecake with vanilla ice-cream ended up getting raspberry mousse with no ice-cream and got told it was a cheesecake and the ice-cream was a misprint it tasted okay but very disappointing! The next morning we went to get the breakfast on arrival there was a very rude woman that would seat you which she yellow from behind me would you like coffee or tea with a very agresive tone. The breakfast which was terrible the sausages was overcooked the white/black pudding was overcooked as well was burned so we ended up ordering the American style pancakes while waiting I went to try the scrambled eggs which almost made me sick it tasted like the eggs died a year ago( it tasted like fish) and then we ended up waiting for about 35mins and got told there was an error snd there investigating it that our order is not been ordered. And got told to give them frw minutes that there sorry after another 15mins i just left. I would give it a 3 stars for the hotel max and 1 star for the restaurant. If it was upto me the restaurant needs to be closed down ASAP. There's just a couple of pictures as my girlfriend took the rest but there was crumbs on the floor toilet seat was not cleaned streaks on the mirrors and the room was not cleaned at all.

We stayed from the Friday to Sunday valentines weekend. When you put your criteria in bookings we ticked parking required this hotel comes back in the search, it’s misleading it does not have parking they have an arrangement a few streets away on Haynes way you CANNOT park at the hotel. The room, very dissatisfied, leak in the bathroom ceiling and it looks awful, a plug socket showing live wires. The room had no mirror that you could get to, to dry your hair or makeup, the mirror that was in the bedroom was hidden up a dark corner behind curtains due to the bedside table you couldn’t use it. The only usable mirror full length and behind the bathroom door. The layout of the room was not great and it was very tired. Room service, they came knocking at 5pm to clean the room we had to decline as we were getting ready for the evening. So our room wasn’t serviced the time we were there. Breakfast, they force you to a table that hasn’t sufficient space for plates and tea coffee pots. Very cramped and again certain bits looked very tired and dusty. I love old hotels which is why we chose the hardiman such a shame about our issues. Galway is beautiful as are the lovely Irish people. Thank you Galway for having us we’ll be back just won’t stay here.
