"A memorable stay in a castle steeped in history"

A stay at Barcaldine Castle is a memorable experience. My thanks to all who work there for making it so. It is a real West Highland clan castle dating back centuries and it brings the turbulent history of those times to life. I found everything at hand for a very enjoyable stay - a comfortable bed, efficient shower, decent wi-fi speed and an excellent breakfast with good food and plenty of choice. The steep spiral staircase is what you would expect in a castle like this but effective handrails make all rooms accessible, even for those of us whose balance is not what it was.

"Cosy little castle."

I thought the fried bread was simply delicious

The heating was on. We are used to much colder rooms.

"What a fantastic experience staying in a real castle but with all the comforts of a luxury hotel"

An historic castle, beautifully restored to become a very comfortable hotel while retaining most of the original character. We were made most welcome by Patrick and Cecilia who were excellent hosts. Uniquely furnished throughout. Super comfy beds. Very peaceful and scenic location.
