Santa Claran Hotel Casino

I like staying here when I have to travel overnight for work. The walls are a little thin (or my floor was really loud) but otherwise no complaints.

We stayed here on May 18, and had a hard time figuring out how to enter the lobby. The person at the front desk had to open the door for us. Only people who had already checked in had a key to enter the front door. Imagine pulling and pushing on a hotel lobby door and not being able to enter. Although the hotel was nicely decorated and clean, with a spacious room, there was no coffee available in our room or in the lobby until 8:00 on a WED morning, after which we were told one had to go into the casino to find any. We went to Sonic on our way out of town instead. I need coffee when I first get up! There were no standard amenities in the room, such as facial tissue, hangers, or suitcase stands. The gap between the shower door and the frame allowed a great deal of water to leak onto the floor, totally soaking the floor towel, making me feel incompetent. The entire experience was extremely frustrating. As we checked out, we were told that if we had called the front desk, they would have brought us hangers and a luggage stand; but there was no sign to indicate such. The only real restaurant on site mid-week was the bar, which had a very limited menu. We went elsewhere for supper. We were told that internet was available in the room, bur we couldn't figure it out and there were no instructions in the room. Some of this inconvenience was due to Covid, we were told. But no coffee before 8:00? I won't be back.

I stayed here February 28th with my grandpa granted he smokes we got a non-smoking room can you smoke on the balcony and I cleaned up his butts from the balcony he had a little bit of ashes on his shirt with got on to the carpet which I then cleaned up with my own shirt which I got wet there was no visible dirtiness after that I had let's the the clerk aware about the situation and she said that's understandable you will not be charged by then 5 days later got a charge for $250 without even a call I did my best to clean the mess and even let them know was told I would not be charged and then they charged me anyways I don't have a job anymore so the little money I get is all I get for the month and now I have no money and I am negative $100 in my bank account worst service I have ever witnessed manager never even reached out to me to help I have kids to take care of and now I can't buy them any food or anyting

When we first checked in, the front desk woman was extremely rude and should never be a customer service representative for any business. Our rooms were large, but extremely dark! IF YOU ARE A NON-SMOKER, DO NOT STAY ON THE FIRST OR SECOND FLOOR. Even though they claim to be a non-smoking facility, the casino doors are left open and the first and second floor reeked of smoke making it hard to breathe. We requested a room change to the 3rd or 4th floor, but the hotel stated they were fully booked (cars in the parking lot didn't reflect that statement). We stayed for several days and upon returning home, all our clothes that were left in the luggage during the trip smelled of smoke. Other than the front desk, all employee were friends and welcoming.

We were exploring casinos and small towns north of Santa Fe and came across the Santa Claran in Espanola. The joint was jumpin’ on a Thursday just after lunch. We learned a Halloween slots promotion was the huge draw. The found the pit and played $5 blackjack with Ronald. He was friendly, helpful, and dealt some really good cards. This place is definitely off the radar and frequented by locals. It was a nice surprise for us.

Other than The Security Guard Isaac the professionalism from all employees at this hotel and resort is excellent . While the rooms are all great having everything one needs while away from home, the suites are especially comfortable with all the comforts of home. Checking in with Maria one always feels special. Amanda and Paul are the best as well. Everyone in the players club make you feel like your always a winner. The business center is one of the best. Views are relaxing. Thank you Steven for having the most professional hotel staff in New Mexico and Gilbert for the best players club professionals anywhere. Security has improved but my car parked in the first disability spot was vandalized so I was told to call security and was disappointed with Isaac's attitude. Definitely in need of training. Called espanola Police and received the professionalism one expects. I do realize as Isaac informed me that I park at my own risk but if this continues will be detrimental to such an outstanding establishment. We always stayed at the Buffalo Thunder Hilton prior to finding this diamond in New Mexico that offers a great deal more and has so many professionals that make you feel appreciated and at home.

We stayed here and were more than satisfied. It’s extremely clean, extremely comfortable & the staff is excellent. It’s beautiful with artwork & artifacts everywhere to look at. The casino is nice too, lots of smoke though. I would highly recommend this place for anyone!

This hotel is a nice size with about 140 rooms. A very pretty lobby greets you at check-in but there is a fairly strong odor of cigarette smoke. Staff here is incredibly nice. Rooms in the back overlook the mountains. We had a lovely suite with a huge bathroom, 2 televisions, a sitting area, dining area with table and four chairs, a Keurig coffee maker, fridge, microwave and complimentary water. Everything seems to be very clean except for some of the hallway carpets which could use an update and some dust bunnies in the room. Bed was hard. We were told that, if you are playing the Black Mesa golf course, you can get a hotel discount when staying at the hotel. There is a restaurant in the casino.

We stopped here on our first night of our New Mexico vacation. It was a nice stop after a long day of traveling. Everything we needed was there - food, bed, and a little fun! It was clean with a friendly and accommodating staff. Contrary to other reviewers, we did not have bad food service - please note, we at ate the bar.

I stay here every two-three months with work while on business, rooms are nice. Unfortunately , Just found out they don't honor the 2019 Federal Gov rate- myself or my staff will no longer be able to stay here - Front desk blamed it on tribe, Buffalo Thunder ( 20 minutes out honors the correct rate) That,s probably same as State Gov as well. Will be staying somewhere else.
