Stamford Gate Hotel

Rooms are very basic but clean. The bathroom is small and the shower takes 5 minutes to get up to temperature. Water trickles out slowly; would really improve the experience if a new shower is fitted. Netflix and Amazon prime are on the televisions in the room which was a huge plus. The best thing about the hotel is the adjoining pub/restaurant. Drinks are very expensive but the evening food is out of this world. Breakfast is served in the same restaurant and is very enjoyable. A choice of cereals or a full English. Fresh orange and a choice of hot drinks are also available. Staff at the hotel are very polite and approachable. Overall, an enjoyable stay and would highly recommend if you just need somewhere to lay your head. Perhaps not the place for you if you are looking for a bit of comfort and luxury.

The staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you. The food is also very good. The only thing that let the weekend down was the bedrooms. They are in desperate need of updating and we found it difficult to sleep due to the lack of sound proofing. The first night we were kept awake by people walking around in the rooms above , very noisy floor boards and the extractor fan. The second night we were kept awake by the snoring from above. We have stayed several times at the hotel but unfortunately not sure we will again 🙁

Awful shower, I stay in a lot of hotels and this is the first where I’ve had to physically write down and give my credit card details to the receptionist towels are small. Food was good though but they don’t have brown sauce for breakfast what a joke!

The hotel was fine and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Me and my partner stayed in the hotel and had issues from start to finish, when we first checked in, one of the members of staff walked into our room on her phone whilst we were getting ready, luckily we were fully dressed! Water does not get warm never mind hot, this is both taps and shower, toilet does not flush properly and took us at least three flushes to get it to work, temperature in room is far too hot felt as though radiators on all night so struggled to sleep and if you open the window you are next to the main road so noise of cars all night/morning just isn't ideal. Breakfast scrambled egg was sloppy and full of oil, toast was brought freezing cold. When we checked in we were told we could check out at 12 and then last minute realised it's actually 11, any later you are charged! Yet again someone walked into our room the morning of check out and quickly realised again we were in the room! For a £100 stay I just don't think it's acceptable at all, wouldn't recommend or stay again.

Very good breakfast

We stayed here for one night as it was the nearest to my niece's home to attend her 40th Birthday celebrations. The bar is lovely and very contemporary. However the room was very dated and needs to come up to the same standard as the downstairs. The bed was quite lumpy. The room was warm and clean. Whist shower gel and shampoo was supplied there was no hand soap to use after using the toilet. (We used the shower gel) Breakfast was served in the bar and was lovely but spoilt by the smell of disinfectant as the bar was being mopped. We were given one drink each but not offered anymore. Also the recently vacated tables either side of us were being sprayed. Usually this is done when breakfast service is completed. It did not encourage us to linger. I appreciate the bar has to be cleaned so maybe the breakfast should be set up elsewhere. I was not asked if everything was ok on check out so missed rhe opportunity of raising these issues at the time.

We’ve stayed there before and always found it to be superb in every way.
