The staff was friendly enough, but this is not a place to have young children stay.

I strongly advise against booking this property if you are traveling as a family. It certainly should not be advertised as a family-friendly hotel. Despite specifically booking rooms with bathrooms, we were initially given two rooms without them, separated by a staircase. Because it was a last-minute booking, we tried to make it work. The staff eventually changed our rooms, but we were still placed on completely different floors—a major issue when traveling with young grandchildren. Additionally, this is the only accommodation I've ever stayed at that demanded a £20 deposit per key (costing us £40 upfront). The final straw came when we returned to the hotel around 9:30 PM. The area right outside the building felt completely unsafe for our grandchildren, as there were people loitering, drinking from beer bottles, and smoking what smelled like weed. Deciding we couldn't stay in that environment, we immediately handed our keys back, got our deposits refunded, and left to find more suitable and secure accommodation.

Affordable price for a private room. Staff are sort of friendly.

The room smells full of smoke, likely from a previous guest, but no effort is shown to deal with it. I was literally asked to wait for like 10 minutes (which is not too long to be fair but no chair offered, I was left standing outside) to fast clean the room before I entered it. I felt my presence was a surprise despite having booked almost 2 months ahead. NO COMMUNAL KITCHEN OR FRIDGE. I needed to ask for toilet paper. No towels provided. The blanket and duvet were stained. The neighbourhood is ok, but there are plenty of homeless/drunk people around. It's unlikely that I will go there again or recommend it to others.

The location and value wasn't too bad.

That their were no cutlery or decent microwave or plate or bowl to use.
