The Moon Inn at Stoney Middleton

Superb location relative to a weekend event I was attending in Foolow over the course of my stay. Nice attentive staff in person (eg bar, restaurant). Good restaurant food but a small menu and on both days some things were off the menu so dining was very limited, and no roasts on Sunday due to a cooker malfunction. Food prices were ok.

Exceptionally poor communication using Booking.com messaging - a question about packed lunches that I asked on 1st Jan wasn't answered until the day before my arrival on 20th Feb and only because I chased it). The property facilities were not correct - Services section included "packed lunches" which is why I booked my stay here (for the event I was attending) and when they finally responded to the question it was a one-liner "I'm sorry we don't offer packed lunches" (nothing about the mistake or correcting it or any further offer of help to get what I needed). They seem to have since fixed this error but what else is wrong? Additionally, the free on-site car park is TINY and is shared by residents with all other pub goers. On one day I had to park on the road, but there was nowhere available nearby (it's a tiny village with narrow roads and lots of cars... I had to park temporarily in front of some church gates just to unpack my car after a hike and then had to watch the car park for someone to leave in order to race to put my own car in that spot. Additionally, my room had several problems: (1) tacky pink tooth paste or shampoo or something on the mat in the bathroom; (2) toilet flush button was sprung off and continued to be problematic (in fact the dual-flush button wasn't correct for the toilet because it only had a single flush function...); (3) the window in the bedroom overlooked the front of the property but the venetian blinds were broken (stuck OPEN and pointing down to the street / up from the street); I had to manually move each vane into the closed position - there was no twizzle rod to open and close the vanes - good job there was also a curtain but good job getting that to stay shut in the middle).

Rooms were warm and clean in a cold January. There was parking for the car and the pub downstairs was a real bonus.

Towels could have been bigger and a few more teabags would have been welcome. Once we asked though they were in the room when we got back.

Lovely friendly pub with great food

Our breakfast was exactly what we wanted. The young lady who served us was lovely. Very pleasant and friendly.

I would have prefered a larger cup in our room.I found the tea cups too small.

The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious and clean, with all the facilities we expected Lots of dogs in the pub and the staff were really happy to have them there! The food in the restaurant was of the highest quality and very tasty. Breakfast was plentiful and with locally sourced ingredients.

We had an issue with our room. Thankfully the issue was resolved and we moved rooms. New room was perfect for our one night stay with a small dog. Evening meal in the pub was really good and a good price, and fresh! Breakfast was good as well. No issues with the food side
