Compass Hut

The location and view were excellent, the picturesque view from the large window at the foot of the bed was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice big and hot. Fluffy towels

We didn't realise it was a tiny eco house (caravan) The group photos were of both buildings with no mention of it being a tiny house. The flyscreen doesn't fit the side window properly which let in mosquitoes, had to close the window. There was no screen door so we had to keep it closed.

The property seemed dishevelled and unmaintained. Massive spiderwebs in the unused loft area, right above the bed, as well as a spider the size of my palm. Dust webs across ceiling above the bed and around window frames. View was mostly lovely, aside from the solar array right in front of the property. Privacy is limited, as other guests in the other tiny homes are able to see into the bathroom, if they are outside. Compost toilet was a shock, as we weren't expecting it, not mentioned on the booking.com listing. Stairs to both bedroom building and bathroom building were unsafe, one moves if you stand on it wrong and the other has a broken step with tape misleading you as to where it ends. 'Free Wifi' is a cheap mobile to hotspot from, however wouldn't charge or boot up during our stay. Plexi glass on bedroom verandah was loose and banged in the wind of a night time. Huge gaps between and above entry doors, which let in all sorts of insects, as well as a breeze/draught.

Location was amazing

The location was very peaceful.

The immediate garden area was overgrown and weedy, there were plant pots with either dead plants or just dirt. Needed a whipper snipper and to look less neglected. There was no cover over the deck so nowhere to get out of the sun given there wasn't enough room inside for us and our baggage. There are no shelves on the walls which would have been handy. It was quite dusty and cobwebby and really could have been a lot nicer with a really good clean. There were a lot of unnecessary posters and notices stuck on the walls where a shelf could have been. I expected it to be small but we had to leave our bags in the car and go back and forth. It felt like the care had gone into the more expensive unit on the hill.

Communication from the owner was excellent, the accomodation was cosy and cute with beautiful views of the trees and hills. Being able to see both sunset and sunrise, and sit reading at the outdoor table, listening to and watching birds & bumble bees come in and out of the cottage garden was lovely. My favourite part was soaking in the big bath with the French doors open in the evening, enjoying the peacefulness of the quiet dark sky with a full moon and stars bright in the sky. The bed was comfy and had all the things I needed without having to leave. It’s a location that feels far enough away from the world beyond yet close to the coast and other attractions nearby. The Arboretum is a short drive and a great place to enjoy birdlife, nature and maybe even spot a platypus or two 😊

Beautiful place to escape. All instructions were very clear to provide an easy space to stay in.

Quiet location

Where to start!!! The smelly long drop toilet in your bedroom. The leaking shower all over the floor, the damaged floor in main area where you can easily cut your feet, the lack of maintenance. The fridge door you couldn't open due to lack of room. The insects coming out of the toilet, etc etc etc
