Spacious and quiet

No private outdoor seating area.

Nice building, clean and large apartment, large pool.

Not enough sunbeds. Lot of apartments for a limited space.

The pool was as lovely as the photos.

We booked the Convento das Bernardas via booking.com, originally for 10 days. The photos are very enticing especially of the beautiful pool, however, the overall stay was disappointing and thankfully we were able to cut short our stay to 5 days. The apartments are owned by both residents and organisations that own several apartments for holiday lets including My Choice that managed the apartment we stayed in. This meant no proper reception area. Check in was organised by phone 30 mins prior to arrival and all contact had to be done over the phone. The apartment smelled of cigarette smoke and the bed linen smelled of smoke too. The first night was uncomfortable as the bed was so hard and the springs could be felt. We complained and they did change the bed linen and provided mattress toppers. My Choice said that they would not charge us and mentioned that the cleaners could not smell the smoke on the bed linen. (We later saw the cleaners smoking outside of another apartment.) It made us think that we were making it up. We did not find dealing with My Choice very easy and nowhere near the standard we had already experienced in Portugal.

Lovely apartment with beautiful outside area. Just be aware no reception facilities so need to arrange exact timings for check in but they were flexible with this

Loved the history of the place and the green swimming pool made it feel very special and interesting.

It felt very basic inside the apartments which didn´t match the price. There weren´t that many sunbeds by the pool.
