Ponderosa Motel

I just wrapped up a 9-night stay at the Ponderosa Motel in Enterprise, Oregon, and I’m honestly impressed. The rooms are spotless, roomy, and thoughtfully laid out—plenty of outlets, comfy beds, and big windows that let in that beautiful Wallowa Mountain light. Housekeeping clearly takes pride in their work; everything—from the fresh towels to the perfectly made bed—was hotel-chain crisp but with that independent-motel warmth. Location is another win. You’re seconds from downtown Enterprise, a quick drive to Joseph, and practically at the doorstep of Wallowa Lake and the Eagle Cap Wilderness. After day of exploring, coming back to a hot shower and a quiet room felt like luxury. Staff deserve a special shout-out. Check-in was friendly and fast, and throughout my stay they offered genuine local tips—best coffee, even where to catch the sunset. It’s clear they care about their guests’ experience, not just the transaction. If you’re heading to northeast Oregon and want clean rooms, stellar service, and a great base for adventure, book the Ponderosa Motel. I’ll absolutely stay again.

The only hiccup was the Wi-Fi, which was spotty at times. In fairness, the front desk explained it was an ISP outage affecting the whole area, not their equipment. They even tried rebooting their system to help. When that’s the lone downside—and it’s outside their control—you know you’ve found a solid place.

Friendly, informative and breakfast had a nice variety of options.

Missed breakfast as it did not start until 7:00AM and had to leave before then.

Clean and comfortable. Mini fridge was a bit bigger than expected which helped keep our food cold. Across from the city hall and free outdoor concert every Thursday night.

The shower head was basic and didn't have an extra strong flow.

The room was very clean and smelled nice. The staff was very nice. We stayed 2 days and was told up front that the staff would not mess with the room but if we needed anything just ask. They did just that. The breakfast was mostly pastries which was okay for us. The a/c felt nice. The bed was just a little uncomfortable but that could be because nothing is ever like home.

Room was nice, they let me in early, staff was kind.
