"Great choice for budget travelers."

8.0

Just a block from the beach. Nice sea view from third floor rooms. Our room had a fridge. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Good air conditioning. Helpful staff. Will stay there again. Only problem was in finding it since the façade has been redone and name of the hotel is not posted. (Note: it's across the street from the ice cream parlor)

"In the process of being remodeled"

4.0

Stayed here for two nights on the street side. The are remodeling the rooms as I write. The best rooms are on the third floor with an ocean view. Having said that it is also very noisy. Those Mexicans like to sing all night! The management was great and he stayed up until we came home. $50 a night ..

"Excellent"

10.0

Have stay there numerous times the place is great clean and the people that manage are great I always go to the baja 250 one year it was booked they were generous to let me stay at one of there own apt place. The location is excellent near malecon & the balcony rooms are great even the ones with a mini kitchen are excellent to cook if with family. Everything is a short distance from the hotel at night is a great you can stay in the balcony watch the whole action from your room or step out the malecon for some action atv riding, party, food, music, dancing etc..

"perfect Mexican Motel"

8.0

I have stayed at Chapala a total of 4 times now in the last year and will be returning again in June. The location is one block back from the Malacon and on the 3rd floor balcony you have a breath taking view of the sunrise. Your within walking distance of the whole town and the staff there is friendly and accommodating. Part of the staff speaks English for the traveler who does not speak Spanish. A bargin for any one who appreciates the old world charm of Mexico.

"Great location; really nice people running the place"

6.0

We moved from the El Cortez just to be closer to "the action." Can't beat the location (one block back from the boardwalk). A bit noisy on weekends but you just need to take earplugs unless you're planning to join the ATVs and party goers on the street below. The managers always have coffee available by 7 a.m. Nice people. This is the second time we stayed there.

"I would trust the kind people who manage and operate Chapala"

8.0

I appreciate all the thoughtful reviews that were here before mine -- we made a decision to stay at Chapala Hotel based on them and they were accurate. The room was simple -- but it was clean and we felt safe there. The staff are sincere and helpful. The owner or manager (not sure) was making dinner for his family and invited us to share some. Do not kid yourself that $48 buys you a Park Avenue hotel -- we went there in an unusual cold snap and the room was cool -- but we were right in the middle of town and the management looked after us. They completely rewashed all the linen every day and kept the place tidy. More than pleased with the stay there.

"nice hotel in san felo"

6.0

i have stayed at this hotel for several times throughout the years. Every thing is clean and the clerks working there are very nice and helpful. They don't have a bar or restaurant available, but they are close to everything, and they will have coffee ready for the guests at the office. The only bad thing is that they don't have enough parking space. Either you have to be there early(before 5 or 6 pm) or you end up parking outside on the main st. I recommend this hotel.

"Clean and Friendly"

6.0

Just spent 3 days in S.F. for business at El Dorado Ranch. We stayed at the Chapala Hotel on Mar de Cortez, one street off the main beach drive. Upon arriving we noticed the buildings had a recent paint job and the grounds were clean and swept. The people were very friendly and the service was prompt. Language can be a problem as only Pepe speaks some english. No resturant or bar but close to many others at the beach front. The rooms were clean and no bad smells or crawley things. Sometimes noise was excessive but it was the weekend 4/07/05. Price at that time was $57.00 a night and a good value compared to other so called better hotels. I know i've stayed in them. Good luck and enjoy
