"Comfortable overnight stay in the English countryside"

8.0

I had an early departure, so being able to order breakfast in advance and have it left for me overnight was an unexpected bonus.

My table in the pub restaurant was a bit sticky.

"A great room, nice meal and good sniffy walks for the dogs."

Our room was just what we needed with our 2 Labradors. The team were attentive but also gave us space- just what we needed.

Nothing it was just what we needed.

"Basic and thus a bit overpriced for what you get."

Stanton St John is beautiful!

There was a huge amount of bashing and clashing until late in the evening (I think my room was next to the pub kitchen being cleaned away). There were multiple hairs from previous guests in the bath and the bath has black mould on the grouting.

"A comfortable stay in a lovely location and friendly staff but room for improvements."

7.0

Lovely location, friendly staff, had all the necessities.

More privacy needed - put privacy glass on the windows so the outsiders can't see in with the curtains open. Also, there was no soundproofing so we could hear the kitchen being cleaned up, heard the guests talking outside and heard the phone vibrating in the room next door at 6.30am on a Sunday morning. Everything was very loud so it made it tricky to fall asleep after a very long tiring day.

"AVOID!!!!!!"

2.0

We were staying over night for a hospital appointment early the next morning. Sadly there was a power cut a couple of hours after arrival, I understand this was not the fault of the owners, however it left us with no light, heating, hot water, power. We had to move hotels (at our own additional expense) as the power was not due to return until the early hours of the morning, a 12 hour outage I believe it was. The manager said he was unable to authorise a refund and the owner outright refused. Told us to get a refund from the power company. An awful, rude, unkind man named Nick, who clearly needs the £62 more than us. Would not recommend this hotel or any others under the Duvall inns brand, wouldn’t give that man another penny of my money!!!! I will also add I was poorly and expected to stay in a room with no heating or hot water for the night
