Lockwood on Aorangi

Was toasty and warm when we arrived and easy to heat with the log burner. Good space for family of four. Kitchen was equipped with basics and couches spacious though not the coziest. Outdoors well equipped if you are spending summer evenings or are stargazing. Very quiet location just minutes from the lakeshore. Very responsive host whenever we had questions or concerns. Would recommend.

We intentionally booked this house to do star gazing. I also experienced the first time in my 62 years of life to start a fireplace, in which the owner provided clear instructions on how to do it in a folder. The heater in the bathroom was not working on the first day, but it was quickly rectified the next day. Very swift action.

The toilet, which is a separate room from the bathroom, does not have a heating device.

The location was great, wood fire was a treat with plenty of wood. Easy check in with good direction.

Just a few maintenance issues. Main bedroom doors and cupboard doors would not close because of newish carpets, just need to trim doors. Beds uncomfortable and pillows were terrible (clean but cheap) These are not a reason to not use this accommodation but would make a world of difference.

The log fire was invaluable and we struck extremely cold frosty nights. Cottage is a hop, step and jump to the village via a walkway.....although the steps might be a tad steep for elderly people (I am 70 and had no issues!) or unfit/disabled people. It was a few houses from our friends home in Aorangi Street.....perfect location for us. The shower was fabulous.

First night we were cold but second night we left the heater on in the bedroom. The double bed duvet was thin and we needed more blankets but they were all synthetic....which we hate....natural fibres are far superior. This is an older Lockwood so not as well insulated as newer ones for winter conditions.

The location was the best , plus the fireplace and abundance of wood to use
