Das Ryokan gibt einem ein sehr authentisches japanisches Gefühl. Es war schön eingerichtet und es hat einem an nichts gefehlt. Man muss wissen, dass es ohne Heizung durch Klimaanlage vor allem morgens kalt ist. Es steht jedoch eine Klimaanlage zur Verfügung, die man Mitte März nutzen sollte. Es war ruhig und man hatte das ganze Ryokan für sich allein. Shino war sehr nett und das Essen war sehr lecker, typisch japanisch.

Das Preisleistungsverhältnis. Es ist im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften teurer. Das Bett mussten wir selbst beziehen. Man muss wissen dass man 30min zuerst eine steile Straße hinunter und dann 15min entlang einer Straße Zum Kumano Kodo Trail laufen muss. Taxi würde von Kii-Tanabe kommen müssen und 12.000¥ kosten. Wussten wir aber vorher und der extra Weg war zur Pilgerstrecke machbar.

Shino-san was an excellent host and we had a great time experiencing a historic Japanese house near the Kumano Kodō. We also ordered breakfast, dinner, and a packed lunch for the hike, which were all tasty.

The house is in a peaceful location right by a beautiful river, but it is a bit of a hilly walk from the main Kumano Kodō route so just be prepared to factor that into your planning.

It’s a bit far from the trail itself

My wife and I had an amazing stay at Shino-san's accomodation, which is tucked away from the main road in a small hill. We also stayed at her other accomodation in Chikatsuyu - equally great. This one is worth the detour from the main route. On top of the lovely meals, I considered it a privilege to be able to stay in a 140-year-old house like this one. I admire Japanese carpentry and woodworking, and this house is a living example of many facets of the tradition - unreal to be able to live in it for a night. Wish we had more time here. Shino-san is also an amazing host, running a tight ship between her various accommodations and cafe, and also being very helpful.

Maison spacieuse et typique, bien chauffée s’il fait froid quand vous y êtes. Les futons sont confortables et tout ce dont vous avez besoin est sur place. Shino est très gentille et disponible et saura vous apporter de la bonne nourriture pour votre trek du Kumano Kodo. Merci Shino!
