Beautiful old house all to yourself! Felt like living in the countryside in the past. Very private. Delicious meals

A little bit far of a walk down a hill to consider (adds about 40 minutes to your hike) but it’s possible to book a taxi and worth it, in my opinion

Traditional Japanese home but unimpressive even then.

Location, layout, a sense lack of spirit of service. Owner asked us to keep shower water cold to save on costs. The owner said she would not give us advice till we paid for the food. Food was expensive and mediocre.

Lovely, full house in traditional Japanese style. The host Shino was very efficient and provided useful tips. Nice food as well.

The breakfast was good, its quite far but it is just right for our route to the kumano kodo

We stayed there one night in connection with hiking the Kumano-Kodo trail. The house was very charming and equipped with everything we needed. Shino is such a kind and helpful host. For example, we got a detailed description on how to find the house from the last stop on the day's hike. We also requested breakfast, lunch and dinner, and everything was delicious. If you are hiking the trail the following day, be aware that the walk is quite long and uphill from the house to the beginning of the trail, and some might want to consider taking a bus. Overall a wonderful experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Too far from the hiking trail, and a long walk from the end of the trail. Had to arrange a taxi to take us back to the start,

Shino-san was prompt in her reply. I was able to check in on my own without any issue. Loved the interior and it transported me back to 1800s when the house was built. Food was good and on time. The property got everything I needed, including a washing machine, a hammock, heater etc.

Shino was easily accessible and promptly responded to all my needs and inquiries. The home is well maintained and very clean. Shino's meals were delicious and I really appreciate how she managed my every need.

Not that Shino could help this, but there is nothing around this area, not even a convenience store. The only thing I would request be updated was that there was only one small towel available for the shower, and one handheld towel. I would have appreciated another hand towel. Shino seemed very much in a hurry when she stopped by, but she took time to make sure all my questions were answered and waited patiently for me to go to ATM when I forgot to have my cash for the meal and taxi ready. She advised me that the taxi would leave me if I was 10 minutes late to meet it, however it ended up being 15+ minutes late.. however this was not her fault! Overall a great visit and I greatly appreciate her care and management of my stay.
