Private GUEST HOUSE KUMANOYASAI near Takahara

The place itself was everything I needed. The host was helpful in giving me information about Kumano Kodo. This could be a perfectly good place to stay if you are driving in the area. There is a pleasant view from the living area to the trees outside.

If you are walking the Kumano Kodo I do not recommend staying here unless you have access to a car. It is a significant walk back down the hill from Takahara and then back up the next day. Having to pay 100yen for using the washing machine when the cost of the stay is already significant.

There was a little misunderstanding about the exact location as the owner has another guest house at another village. I was at the wrong place but Shino picked me up. she is a really great person

Love everything about this place especially the host. She is wonderfully kind, friendly and helpful. Dinner, breakfast and lunch box were delicious. She is cooks with love.

The location is a bit off track so a fair walk away.

Shino is a wonderful host. The accommodation is as described in the photos. It is historically charming and comfortable. Meals were good, though somewhat limited for vegetarian options..

Guests should be aware that bus service is limited, access to the Kumano Kodo will involve either a 40-60 min. connector hike or a bus ride, and the grocery store is a 20 min. walk. But if you approach all of these with a sense of adventure then it's a wonderful chance to stay in a renovated countryside house. In the winter the bathroom is chilly.

熊野古道を滝尻から牛馬童子口まで歩いた後、バスで宿に伺いました。バス停からすぐです。建物の見た目は古いですが中は快適です。家庭用にしては大きめのお風呂でのんびり歩いた疲れをとる事が出来ました。 スーパーまで徒歩20分との事で暗い中歩いていくのはおすすめ出来ないかもしれません。私たちは、夕食は牛馬童子口道の駅で買ってきた鹿肉コロッケやアユのひつまぶしを食べましたが、朝は用意していただきました。昼食として準備していただいたお弁当もとても美味しかったです。
