Villa Santa Mónica

We had a wonderful stay with our family during the Christmas break. The staff are absolutely wonderful and Jorge, the General Manager is extremely helpful and so attentive. They organized a delicious 4 course meal for our family of 12 on Christmas Eve and even had some special activities for our kids and a complimentary birthday cake for my son. Property is beautiful and well maintained. We cannot wait to visit again.

The architecture, staff, location and furnishings are all very beautiful. I did find it a little odd that the room I was in opened onto an outdoor dining area. It was strange to go into my room while skirting diners, though it didn't ever seem too busy.

You can’t find a more beautifully curated place. From the architecture to all of the decorative items so carefully selected and then of course the colorful birds sprinkled throughout just brought this place to life. It feels like you’re in a private oasis right in the middle of the city and the staff is just right amount attentive without being pushy.

Such a beautiful hotel! Loved the location at the top of Parque Benito Juarez, which is so lovely in itself. Both the hotel courtyard, where we had breakfast every day ( always delicious), and our room were exquisite. Hummingbirds in abundance! Huge bathroom, antique-filled bedroom, super high ceilings— it felt grand and elegant. In January, the courtyard was chilly in the morning, so plan on a jacket. We had some plumbing issues on our first day (not exactly surprising for a building of this age), but they were completely fixed by the time we returned in the afternoon. If you like American style amenities— TV, microwave, tech upgrades— this is not for you. It’s an historic old building and provides an old school hotel experience. Silent at night, comfortable bed, great linens. Our room had a pretty private patio, but the furniture wasn’t too inviting (seriously weathered). However, it was great to leave the doors open and sit on the big comfy chairs with the sun streaming in. The staff, led by Lulu, was fantastic—you are completely taken care of in such a personal and caring way. The walk to the town center is about 10-15 minutes and we loved escaping back to this quiet and beautiful spot every night.

This hotel is one incredibly beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the service was better than I’ve had anywhere else. My room was unique, comfortable, with a fireplace and very traditional. Perfect

We needed a place at the last minute, and the staff found two rooms right away. We had been to the villa for breakfast and lunch, hoping to stay some day. But circumstances forced us to find lodging our last night in town, and we were so pleased rooms were available. It was a dream come true to stay. The staff are so kind and made us feel so at home. Knowing our dilemma, Jorge allowed us to have a late check out in order to be comfortable until the bus arrived at 3:00. How above and beyond was that? Also the rooms were so tasteful and comfortable. Stained glass lamps, beautiful tile work, fascinating original art, in a 17th century gem of a building. I hope to have an experience like the Villa Santa Monica again some day. The hotel is so timeless it will be worth the wait. Did I mention the staff are the stars?
