Ryokan Fuji Heights

L'ambiance.

If you want an authentic Japanese experience, this is a great place for it. The host can communicate in very simple English and is extremely hospitable and sweet. It feels like you’re living in a Japanese grandpa house. He even gave us strawberries at night which was a sweet gesture and he gave us a ride to the station. Coffee and green tea are provided. I especially like the heater under the table for my tired legs. Also expect to make your own Japanese bed. The blankets are very comfortable. The bathroom and onsen are shared, but you can lock it for your own group.

If you’re expecting a hotel experience, this may not be for you. We were a group of 4 and the wifi only worked for one of us. For the washrooms, though there are private stalls, there was one men’s urinal in plain sight. Though we didn’t have trouble with it because it was quiet.

Owner was really friendly and explained everything throughly. It is close to the lake and the room was lovely.

The owner is a nice uncle who will pick u up / send you back to / from the bus/train terminal. The room and bathroom with a tiny onsen is very clean. This is a very authentic local experience indeed because it's also their home. I rented the full day semi-auto bike from them for 2500yen cash. It was perfect to cycle around town. There is a nice little cafe - Kodachi Cafe, 5min walk from this place that serves the best breakfast!

Le monsieur du ryokan était très accueillant et au petits soins pour nous, très énergique. C’est très appréciable aussi qu’il vienne nous chercher à la gare à notre arrivée ou nous emmener à la gare au départ. Le ryokan etait authentique.
