Great location, amazing ambiance, very home feeling with the fireplace, loved the balcony off of my room. Just really nice overall.

I booked a stay directly with Lake Placid Inn for the Ironman Lake Placid weekend. During the reservation process, it clearly stated that only a one-night deposit was required. I received a confirmation with those exact terms, and the deposit was charged to my credit card. Two days later, the hotel called and said a full non-refundable prepayment was now required due to the event. I explained that my confirmation showed a one-night deposit policy and declined the new terms. After being asked to forward my confirmation and exchanging emails with the general manager, the hotel still insisted on changing the terms. When I declined to accept different terms than what was originally confirmed, my reservation was cancelled. I was fully prepared to pay for the stay. The issue was the change in terms after the booking had already been confirmed and the deposit paid as per the reservation terms. For a destination that hosts Ironman athletes and relies heavily on event-driven travel, this is not how confirmed reservations should be handled. Future guests, especially those traveling for major events, should be aware of this experience.

Location and the staff

TV reception was not that great.

Staff was wonderful and the facilities were clean. Only short walk into lake placid for restaurants and stores..

The cable TV they have stinks. Error messages glory and they blame it on the wind and trees. Elevator takes forever it's faster and more efficient to use the stairs than wait for the elevator.
