ZACommunication to reception is not up to standard. After my booking was made, paid, and confirmed I still had to wait for receptionist to phone one person after the other.

There are no toilets by the pool area...we have to go downstairs to have access to toilets ...

The pool table needs to be replaced as it's very old and u can actually see the one end of board collapsed also new balls because there were more solid balls than stripe ..we enjoy playing pool but didn't enjoy it and it's 5rand a game so was not enjoying it please replace ..thank you

GBWe have stayed here several times on previous visits to South Africa and we love that the Illovo Beach is so unspoilt and natural - NOT commercialised and over developed - the beach is pristine, virgin beach - it's wild and beautiful. The accommodation units are equipped to have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff are most helpful and pleasant, with many of them having been there for years. The units all face the ocean and have lovely big balconies to sit-out on. The beds are comfy, there's good hot water flow (and no pressure loss when others are showering).
Sadly on this occasion the standard of cleanliness wasn't as high as previously. The sheets and towels were all clean and fresh, the bath, basin and shower were clean, but sadly the kitchen cupboards, kitchen utensils and crockery needed a good clean, as did the floor throughout the unit. It seemed the floor had only had a cursory sweeping in the most prominent places. There were areas around the edges (particularly in the bathroom/toilet) that hadn't been touched for a long time. What it needed was a very good mopping. Pillows:- there were plenty of pillows, the pillow cases were all beautifully clean, but alas the pillows themselves were just too high and bulky for us. We all struggled to actually get our heads onto them and they didn't 'give' very easily. Given there were plenty of them, it would have been nice to have an alternative. So important to be able to get a good night's sleep.
