Freycinet Coastal Retreat

Loved the location and amazing views from the wonderful deck. House was wonderful to stay in, bed was comfortable and they acknowledged our anniversary with a beautiful bottle of local wine and chocolate which was a great touch

No place to hang wet clothes, apart from a very small air dryer. Would be great to have an outdoor line, even one that folds out on one of the deck walls for future people staying. The tiles in the ensuite were super slippery when we first used them (maybe left over chemical?). Also the house could do with a good dust, including wall lights in bathroom and windows

Not in Coles Bay. Might technically be, but is 5-6kms from shows and main Coles Bay activity area so you need drive everywhere. We hired entire house but third bedroom was not made up and no bedding supplied for this. Main living area had no openable windows so only way to let fresh air in was to leave door wide open which let mozzies and bugs in. Fire, which is included in advertising, is apparently only to be used in certain months which was not mentioned in the policies or T&C’s. Sliding doors in bedrooms almost impossible to open (neither my wife or child were able to operate, both need maintenance) and we had to move light bulbs around to fix lights that were blown. Stove cook top turned itself off multiple times (malfunctioned) also. The view is great, but as seasoned travellers, this place just felt like another property a management company has that they whiz through after a stay at a hundred miles an hour to make it ready for the next guest.

This was possibly one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. The living areas were spacious and made full use of the amazing views. The bedrooms, that were used, were well appointed and super comfortable. Bathrooms and ensuites had everything you needed. Kitchen was well appointed and had all the bits and pieces we needed to enjoy breakfast and dinner. We would return here in a heartbeat💗

Couple of things, nothing big and easily fixed. 1. There was an eclectic mix of glasses in the cupboard with not too many matches. It suggests they have broken over time but we feel they could easy be replaced to create some consistency. 2. The fridge power cord wasn’t long enough to reach the power point so a power board has been stretched to plug it in. In the course of us opening and closing the fridge (definitely not slamming it shut), the plug disconnected. It meant by the time we discovered this, all of the food we bought to enjoy was ruined and had to be thrown out. Aside from the considerable cost of what we bought, we then had to figure out where we could get dinner that evening. It was frustrating, disappointing, annoying and could easily have been avoided. 3. Would have loved some outdoor chairs to relax in in the afternoon. Once the wind started up we understood perhaps why there weren’t any, but I’m sure people could be responsible and put them away each day. There was a very solid table with bench seating but not super comfortable for relaxing on. We’d still return here any day of the week 😁

Unrivaled location, beautifully appointed and catered. Very generous hosts with sparkling and still water, wood for the fire - fabulous two nights, wish we’d booked a week!

The view diminished due to windows being very dirty. We cleaned the main windows ourselves as best we could so we could enjoy the view from inside. Bedroom windows remain very dirty. Oven was quite dirty inside and clearly has not had a proper clean for quite some time. Not enough kindling or firewood left easily accessible for a 2 night stay. Fire pit in garden area out back would be a game changer!
