Freycinet Coastal Retreat

Location of the home is in a beautiful setting. The home is clean, bright and well equipped.

Unfortunately we had big power/water issues during our stay. One reason we booked this home was because it offered a clothes washer and tumble dryer (it's actually a combo unit). The problems started the first evening when all of a sudden the water stopped working and the power in part of the house went out. It was late, so we decided to call the emergency number the next morning to get some help. That evening the refrigerator was out all night and we had no access to water - either for drinking or the toilets. A maintenance person came over and said a circuit breaker had triggered, but he reset it and said we should be fine. We found that the circuit kept blowing every 5-10 minutes, and every time it did, the water went out (water pump) as well as the refrigerator, some lights, etc. I spoke with the rental group and they tried to find an electrician to come by the house. No luck - was told the local electrician was out of town until 2 days after our departure. We were heading out for a long day of hiking and the rental agency said they would 1) investigate options for us, and 2) determine some compensation for our problems. Following our hike, they offered for us to move to another property (with fewer features and less desirable location off the water) to finish our stay (but no compensation for our issues), or we could check out and find another place on our own! Not a very helpful response to our issues. We really didn't like either option and decided to work around the issues. As an electrical engineer, it wasn't too hard to figure out that they had too many high amperage appliances on the same circuit which was overloading it. This included a refrigerator, water pump, and washer/dryer. We ended up having to hand wash clothes and dry on a rack vs. using the advertised washer/dryer. In the end, they offered no compensation. Lots to like about the property but a really poor experience for us.

insect screen was broken, two bedrooms had no clothes hangers,

There was a prolific amount of mosquitos in the house that werevery ferocious during the night making sleep difficult. If we were warned we could have used insect spray before bed. - Yes we did have all the screen doors shut!

It was all good!

Great views. Rooms quite separate.
