Breakfast was definitely a highlight – a delicious three-course affair, clearly prepared with care. The chefs did a fantastic job and couldn’t have done more. The location is beautiful and peaceful, though it’s worth noting that having a car is essential as it’s quite remote.

Unfortunately, the room was a major letdown. Everything – shower, bath, sink, coffee area, and TV – was all crammed into a single open space, offering zero privacy unless you were in the toilet. It felt more like a studio than a hotel room, and ours had a noticeable damp smell. This setup wasn’t made clear in the listing, and it really affected our comfort. There was also a serious issue with the water system – if someone used the tap or flushed the toilet, the shower temperature would suddenly spike, making it dangerously hot. We had to be extra cautious just to avoid being scalded, which is not what you expect from a property at this price point. There’s no supper service available, and while there is a bar on-site, it’s purely functional – just drinks, with no real atmosphere in the evening. It felt like the day ended after breakfast, with little to enjoy on-site for the rest of the day. The pool area was another missed opportunity. While it looked appealing at first glance, it could have done with more consistent cleaning – pine needles and other debris weren’t regularly cleared, which made it feel neglected. Staff seemed friendly – often just one person on duty, so we didn’t raise our concerns at the time as they were busy serving breakfast. For nearly £300 per night, we expected much more in terms of service and amenities – even something as simple as a cold towel by the pool or being offered a drink would’ve made a difference. If you’re looking for something truly special or luxurious, this place may not deliver on that promise.
