The Yellow House

After a long bus ride back to Quito from the Amazon, the kind welcome we received from the manager (and her two adorable dogs) was just what we needed. The hostel is located near the lively Mariscal Foch, a square filled with bars and restaurants, so it is a little bit noisy outside. On the flip side, because the square was busy with people and there were plenty of police around we felt quite safe despite arriving at night and having a short walk to the hostel.

The hostel could do with a little bit of updating to the fittings and furnishings, but it was excellent value for money and a great place to catch our breath.

The owner and her family are so wonderful and kind! Everything was cozy and clean. I felt like we were part of their Yellow House community after just being there for one night. Cant wait to stay there again!

We stayed at the yellow house for two weeks in October and November. We really enjoyed our stay. Gabi, Shanti and Tony are excellent hosts. The breakfasts are outstanding and the fresh fruit was delicious. Gabi was very helpful recommending area attractions and organizing a private driver to take us up to the textile market in Otavalo as well as Cotacachi on 30 minutes notice. We were welcome to hang out in the kitchen and Tony even made Venezuelan arepas which were absolutely delicious!

Tis is the third time I've stayed here and I'm happy I did. They did my laundry for me also allowed me to have a late check out for my red eye flight. This is the best place to stay on a budget in Quito. They are the best hotel staff I've ever experienced.

Wonderful place to stay. The staff is definitely the best part about this place. I'm so glad I stayed here. Probably the best service I've ever received while backpacking. EVERY staff member knew my name before I even arrived. The breakfast is fresh fruit, eggs, and croissant. Probably the freshest fruit I've ever had. They provide every service with passion and honesty. When I come back, Yellow House will be the place I stay. I can't find a single thing wrong with this place.

Second time staying here. The staff is the best in all of Ecuador. I can't think of a single bad thing. Two thumbs up from this guy!

This is weekend party central area. Lots of loud music. Till 3:00 AM

No toilet paper in the bathroom

It’s a beautiful place with super kind owners.

Very comfortable, we had two rooms during our stay (we needed to extend our stay) and they were both spacious, clean and had comfortable beds. Breakfast was included and was very good (fruit, juice, eggs and bread/croissants). We felt secure here thanks to a locked garden gate. The hosts are really love people who are very helpful. They have two little dogs who were mostly quiet and very cute.

The only slight negative was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work very well in our bedroom, but it worked ok in the lounge area.
