Amazing pool, very nice rooms.

The pool and the tranquility aspect and was happy with location

Firstly Massaria Testaferrata guesthouse is not properly run by the staff and falls short on many points. The staff although welcoming are quite amateurish and feel that a simple request is a big stretch. Fransesco the main host is in our opinion a very nice amiable young man but is clearly out of his depth and looks exhausted most days and doesn’t know how to react in appropriate way and isn’t experienced in the ways of managing operations. The breakfast was very mediocre and had stale breads and a small and inexpensive coffee machine which easily broke down and cheeses had zero flavour as well as no tasty hams. We felt like the hotel are skimping on fruit also with over-ripe fruits which found we had flies inside in the peaches every time we tried these. Also the standard rooms don’t have any storage drawers and only five hangers on which to hang our clothes for our stay ! This is not great for longer stays such as ours ! Most guests stayed a few days only and so most likely didn’t pay attention in such ways but as our duration was much longer (a fortnight) we struggled and took our clothes out from luggage case which is a first for us and very dissatisfied with this. Also room does not offer any coffee/tea making facility, fridge is tiny and there was no welcome pack with recommended places of interest/ local restaurants and trips etc! Major oversight and again only concluded this was not value for money. The guesthouse could be really really special but is run like a second rate B&b. Finally we could not arrange a late checkout and was even told that we should change and shower at the poolside shower as the hotel was fully booked ! The late check out was an ongoing issue with Fransesco as he told me the hotel was fully booked but am sure that most days saw that there were guests with late arrival slots, again this fell short and know further evidence that hotel is run on shoestring budget.
