Island Guesthouse and Motel

We were in Room #1 which my wife said was like having our own beach cottage. Very clean, very friendly. Just terrific.

What's not to like? In addition to scoring a 10 on everything, we loved the vibe of a 1950's motel. This is not the only one in Manteo, but I doubt there is nicer room than the Lost Colony Suite. This is right off the reception area and coffee room. We were concerned that noise might be a problem with people checking in, but for our stay, this was not a factor. I don't believe there were many guests that night. If this is a concern, choose a motel room behind the house. I have to believe that the high standards cary through the entire property.

great place

The room was fine. Newly remodeled and clean. My concern is that there was a substantial fee for each pet. I booked through Expedia, and disclosed that we had two small dogs. On arrival, I was informed that there was a $40 per dog pet charge. The manager discounted this by $15. Maybe an Exoedia glitch, but not good.

If your looking for a motel that's more like a retreat, this is it. I have stayed here before and i always look forward to the welcoming by the staff. I like the fact that im close to the beaches, birds at pea island and the bears at alligator river.

Great property and location

Quiet, clean, and nice location. I would stay again. I stayed in room with kitchen. Well equipped. I would suggest adding a coffee pot (just my opinion). Coffee was in main office area, and was glad to see, but would rather have in room. Adding a shelf in bathroom would be nice for a place to put things on. Very happy with our stay.
