"Great place to be"

10.0

it was awesome. Great place to be. I love the cleanliness and the kindness of people working there. Always there to help as soon as possible. The place is located by many restaurants and closed to Stanford University. Very calm and cosy. Loved it.

"Unclear policy on included breakfast"

8.0

I like the Cardinal. I like that it is old. I like walking up the stairs and I don't even mind sharing a bathroom. There is something though. When you make a reservation for a shared bathroom room, it says that the room comes with breakfast at the restaurant next door; and the email confirmation also says that the room comes with breakfast at the restaurant next door. But when you check in at the front desk they say, no, the shared bathroom rooms don't come with breakfast. The website and emails have been that way for quite a while, they need to either fix the website or stop trying to omit the meals after people arrive.

"Great location"

10.0

Great place with tons of history and character. Excellent facilities and excellent location near restaurants, nightlife, and train station. I would recommend the Rose and Crown pub around the corner. Anyone wearing makeup-- look for the black face towels in the bathroom to avoid staining white hotel towels.

"Good value"

8.0

The Cardinal is my favorite hotel in Palo Alto. Pros: it's a good value for the price, the location can't be beat, and the staff are always exceedingly nice. The beds are very comfortable and there are ceiling fans in every room. They also have non-travel-sized hair dryers available at the front desk. Things to consider: Some rooms do not have individual bathrooms, so pay attention when you're selecting your room type! Other rooms have small bathrooms with little space for toiletries, and the toilet paper holders are awkwardly placed. The hotel is not air-conditioned, and street noise can be loud on nights when there are a lot of outdoor diners.

"Nice facility, some old world charm, but modern. Convenient location-food, shopping, transportation easily accessible."

7.0

Beautiful historic hotel in a great Palo Alto location. 1 block from University Avenue.

My room was in a strange place by the stairs-sort of isolated. I had to walk the whole floor 2x to find it. Lots of thumping up and down in the morning and at night.

"Nice location"

10.0

We stayed three nights for a Stanford reunion. The location is great, with lots of interesting cafes and bars around, and for us the convenience to campus was great. The room was clean and comfortable, and the shared bathrooms were only a minor issue, as we never had to wait for one, and never even encountered other guests in the halls while in our robes. I was going to complain about the noise level from the sidewalk below until well after midnight, forcing us to wear earplugs to sleep, but on the third day I realized our window just wasn’t shut, so that night was quiet!
