Cardinal Hotel

A charming boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Palo Alto. Room was excellent with a great bed, sound machine:), and very quiet. Many restaurants right outside. A welcome change from the sameness of chain hotels. The elevator brings memories of the 1900's (way back). Very convenient to Stanford University.

Beautiful traditional hotel, centrally located close to caltrain station, restaurants, bars, shops, cafes and pharmacy. The bed is very comfortable and the room and bathroom are spotless. Downsize is no breakfast. On the other side there are good small cages around (specially Coupa cafe). Staff is not enthusiastic… I wonder if their salary is low…

From the moment I entered the foyer, I knew that my experience was going to be exceptional. The first floor was truly a preface to the elegance and charm that pervades throughout the building. I had a shared bathroom, which for some might be considered questionable. With great enthusiasm, I encourage anyone who stays in this hotel to select a bedroom with a shared bedroom. You will feel as if you are touring Europe, as you traverse the halls and greet and, perhaps, have conversation with your fellow guests. This feature is what will make your stay memorable for years. Of course, none of the magic happens without the distinguished and daily flair of the housekeepers, who are unparalleled, and the front desk attendants, who are an extension of your family and, in particular, the host and world-class manager, Stephanie. In Palo Alto, nothing compares with the Cardinal Hotel, and it will certainly be ranked, if not at the very top, as your most extraordinary hotel experience. I am a Stanford University alumnus, and I am telling all of my fellow alumni to not hesitate booking your stay at the Cardinal when you are in town. good location

when I booked the hotel, I did not know this is shared bathroom, after I paid then was notified "you have to share the restroom with others". When I checked in, they make me paid extra $, in order to have my own restroom. I will not stay again.

The place is old and has an unpleasant smell. There’s no restroom or bathroom in the room, so it feels more like a hostel than a hotel.
