"headache cottage"

good size cottage

smelled freshly painted 😑 electricity power was gone every morning the restaurant offers only two different meals for dinner and there is no other way to get some food nearby

"Perfect stay in the middle of the nature reserve"

The cottages were really clean, very nicely renovated and fully equipped. We had one of the three Vlei cottages, so we had a lot of privacy and a nice view on the lake. We did the bike tour with Edi to explore the nature reserve, which we highly recommend. The food at the Fig Tree restaurant was delicious.

De Hoop is a wonderfully beautiful place. Everything runs well. Polite and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the beach walk with Albert.

"Cozy cottages with good food"

The service was very good. The breakfast and the dinner is really a try worth it.

We rent Mountainbikes for a day but they were in a bad condition. We tried many bikes at the beginning but all of them were not maintained. The wheels were slacky such that we felt unsafe but at the end an accident didnt happen.

"De Hoop is a must"

Planning our - family of four - SA trip the De Hoop Nature Reserve was only by accident on our trip for a sleepover. A clear mistake, although we travelled in winter time. The Vlei Cottages were lovely. You felt to be back in another century but the cottage was fully self equipped. The baboons and ostriches passed the cottage next to its terrasse, nature begun right one step ahead outside the cottage. Nature continues a further 20 min drive to the dunes and beaches, we saw the whales, nothing else to say as awesome. Can only advise to stay min. 2 nights. We had dinner at the restaurant, gourmet level.

Dinner was on gourmet level. Breakfast was the opposite. Nobody told, how it worked. There was one toaster, some toasts and some jam for all guests which yet suddenly disappeared, then we had to order invidually. We did not like this concept, for dinner ok but for us breakfast has other focus.
