Santa Domenica Guest House

The location in the heart of the city could not have been better. We had easy access to buses and the cultural areas of the city. The apartment was very clean, tidy and comfortable. The kitchen had everything those staying might need. Very secure, needing four keys to enter.

Should have got entry information a few days before arrival, but got nothing, so had to chase day before. Need to use data roaming to call somebody to let you in the building. No wifi code so more mobile data to get the owner to whatsapp the code which was unnecessary hassle. Messages from owner made little sense, telling us to take out garbage on the correct days with no information about which days or even which bins were for which items. Told to make sure the lights were off when out, but electricity is linked to keys so would be off anyway. Toilet seat broken allegedly by previous guest but I doubt this. It wasn't fixed.

Our stay at this apartment was delightful. It was incredibly spacious and comfortable, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, bright living room and kitchen. The design of the apartment was beautiful, featuring high ceilings with domes, crystal chandeliers, and modern furniture with great design. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, and the bed linen and towels were of very good quality. The apartment overlooks an inner yard of the building and has two small balconies, adding to its charm. It is conveniently located close to all Catania attractions and excellent restaurants. You can easily reach the apartment from the airport by shuttle bus. However, please note the stops are upon request and there is no screen mentioning the name of the stops the bus pass by. It is best to enter the address in Google Maps and follow the location till Dusmet stop, and ask the driver to stop . For your return trip to the airport, it is best to go to Piazza Borsellino and take the bus, which is an 8-minute walk from the apartment.

Communication with the hosts was good and prompt. However, for check-in, we had to wait on the street for 20 minutes for a lady to give us the keys, and she did not apologize for being late. There are 55 stairs to reach the apartment, and there is no lift. This could be an issue for those with mobility problems, but otherwise, it was just fine for us.

Great apartment to spend a few days. It is walking distance from the train station and lots of the touristy sites. The apartment itself is very spacious a great space to hangout and relax in. The bed is comfy. The kitchen is well set up with some coffee, tea salt and pepper which is handy. The supermarket is close so easy to go buy anything that you need. Bars and restaurants are at the door step for the evening aperitif! Hosts hand over the keys on-site and explain how the keys and apartment works, then are available phone if needed. They also offer to help set up trips to Mt Etna etc.

Excellent location

Toilet seat was broken, showers very small, no dryer, also no lift there were 3 flights of stairs very difficult when you have heavy suitcases.
