"Exceptional"

10.0

What a wonderful stay at the gorgeous & chic Hugh Inn! I can’t say enough good things about our delightful visit, I only wish it was longer but we’ll definitely be back. Sandra and John are perfect hosts - welcoming, attentive, kind, and ready to share fabulous tips for your stay in Cape May. The property is stunning - so beautifully appointed, white glove clean, and the most comfortable bed to doze off in at the end of a great Cape May day. Breakfast was delicious. Terrific location as well. What more could you ask for?

"What a difference a year makes at the Inn"

4.0

We first visited in 2017 and I wrote a great review because it was really a great stay. We went back this October and man what a difference a year makes. It was a terrible stay, if we could have checked out and gotten a refund for our remaining days there we would have. All the charm our first visit had was gone and the biggest thing missing was Justin who no longer runs the inn. It is now run by one of the owners who is not a people person but it seems that the little things that Justin did that made this place special are gone. The breakfast menu has been shrunk down considerably and the coffee which used to be fantastic is like watered down tea. It is pretty bad that when staying at a B&B you have to take a walk to pick up coffee from a shop before breakfast especially from a B&B who also is considered a fine dining restaurant. We had beautiful mornings but having breakfast on the porch was no longer an option which was sad as we really enjoyed that and seemed very lazy on their part. Our room was cleaned one day and the garbage was left outside our door well into the late night. I don't know if they are struggling and they had to make cut backs but for the price of the room (which is not cheap) you need to give the customer the value they are paying for, the very least a good cup of coffee. We won't go back which is sad for us and at breakfast one morning we were talking to a couple that were trying the Blue Rose for the first time and from the conversation we had they won't be either.

"always a taste treat"

10.0

This restaurant has been a Cape May staple for decades now as a delicious and quirky favorite. It is one of Cape May's best little venues for a romantic meal. I haven't stayed at the Inn, but I imagine it would meet the restaurant's excellence.

"Cape May Charm!"

8.0

This is my third visit to the Blue Rose. The location is just before the start of the Washington Street Mall and a couple blocks back from the beach. A fairly easy walk to just about anywhere you need to go. The inn is family run and the service provided has always been attentive throughout our stays. Another nice thing is that this inn is reasonably priced as compared to the other inns and the breakfasts are the best we’ve had in Cape May. Try the Eggs Benedict with homemade scrapple. That was a treat! We decided to have dinner at the inn, which was a first for us. Best decision, both our entrees were amazing. Only drawback is the parking, which is offsite and a bit of a walk from the inn. However, most days and nights you will not need your car since everything is so close to the inn. Basically, just park it and forget it. :)
